haelyra 43febb9ada fix: preserve opt-in GateGuard contract questions from PR 3497 2026-10-11 02:00:27 -04:00
montjeffrey f7f47679b6 fix(gateguard): make the external-contract question opt-in
- questionIdsFor and condensedHintFor take an optional
{ externalContract: true }; without it a code change that handles data
asks data-schema only, and an unknown profile gets the original four
  questions and condensed hint.
- The hook reads GATEGUARD_EXTERNAL_CONTRACT_QUESTION with the same
spellings as GATEGUARD_METRICS and passes it to the full denial, the
condensed denial and the metrics record, so all three agree.
- The effectiveness harness's arm patch forwards the option, so an arm
  never drops it silently.

Docs: change-profile.md gains an External-contract question section and
qualifies "byte-identical to the fixed four questions"; design-notes.md,
SKILL.md (switch table, data rule, word-for-word set) and CHANGELOG say
the fifth question is opt-in; question-effectiveness.md and the harness
README note that the runner clears GATEGUARD_* variables, so a gate arm
from a current tree measures the gate without the question.
skill-triggers@1.json: registryDigest refreshed for the SKILL.md body
change; the description and triggers are unchanged.

montjeffrey 329ca4e11a docs(gateguard): document type filters, path patterns and lookups
- design-notes.md: new Type filters and Path patterns sections; Search
scope extends the search-of-the-target rule to name lookups; Flag
parsing lists the new value flags.
- change-profile.md: Unicode line terminators make an edit non-trivial.
- skills/gateguard/SKILL.md and CHANGELOG.md describe the same rules.
- skill-triggers@1.json: refresh registryDigest for the SKILL.md body
change. The skill's description is unchanged, so triggers and
triggersDigest are untouched, as in the plan-orchestrate refresh.

montjeffrey 5588e27646 docs(gateguard): report the pilot null result and the hidden-intent design
The pre-registration said results would be reported whichever way they came
out. They came out empty: 72 sessions in which all four arms passed 18 of 18
with mean score 1.000, every arm-against-gate difference 0% (0% to 0%) and
McNemar p = 1. With the outcome fixed for every trial there is no variance to
explain, so this is the absence of a measurement rather than weak evidence that
the gate does nothing. The run does establish the gate's cost in that regime:
about 45% more turns and 28% more tokens for no outcome change.

Record the three reasons it measured nothing - deciding facts hidden in the
repository, the asking channel switched off, and a pass criterion written in
the gate's own vocabulary - and the hidden-intent design that addresses them,
with its hole classes, its first four-trial run and its own limits.

montjeffrey 56a516c2c5 Merge upstream/main into feat/gateguard-fewer-round-trips
Brings in the three commits main gained since the branch's merge base: the 2.2.3
release, retiring the Everything Claude Code name for ECC, and the ja-JP sponsor
update. 227 files arrive from main; two conflicted.

CHANGELOG.md: the branch had added an Unreleased section and main a released
2.2.3 section, both at the top. Both are kept verbatim with Unreleased above
2.2.3, since none of the branch's entries shipped in that release.

manifests/context-packs/skill-triggers@1.json: both sides had recomputed
registryDigest from the same earlier value to different results, and neither is
the digest of the merged tree. It is recomputed with loadContextRegistry over the
merged tree and only that field changes; triggers and triggersDigest are
untouched on both sides. validate-context-profiles passes.

All twelve CI validators pass. The full suite reports 44 failures in seven files;
43 of them fail by name and count identically on an unmodified upstream/main, and
the remaining one, plugin-hook-bootstrap, fails only inside run-all and passes in
isolation on both trees. The merge introduces no failing test that main does not
already have.

Affaan Mustafa 0348d7b6d7 chore(release): 2.2.3, ECC-only naming in pi/core and a longer npm publish wait (#3329)
pi/core and the bundled blueprint skill now refer to the project as ECC only;
the generated README no longer expands the name. Profile contents, package
name and paths are unchanged (123 skills, 24 commands).

The release workflows poll npm for up to five minutes after publish before
verifying the artifact. In 2.2.2 the check gave up after about 30 seconds while
npm was still processing, failing the run before latest was promoted and the
GitHub Release was created.

Version metadata synced to 2.2.3 with CHANGELOG, translated release headings
and release notes; skill-triggers registryDigest updated for the blueprint text.

Affaan Mustafa c70874fae9 feat(pi): curated pi/core skills+prompts profile, CI load test, and 2.2.2 release sync (#3264)
Adds a curated, Pi-native, skills+prompts-only profile at pi/core/ for downstream packagers that mirror GitHub Releases.

- manifests/pi-core.json: explicit include lists, per-item exclusion reasons, curation rules, safety allowlists; every root skill and command must be classified.
- scripts/build-pi-core.js regenerates pi/core deterministically (package.json from VERSION, LICENSE, README.md, CURATION.md, skills/, commands/); --check fails CI on drift. council is renamed ecc-council inside pi/core only.
- Safety checks: no callable endpoints outside the allowlist, no npx/curl|sh/pip install, no secrets, no absolute home paths, no symlinks, valid frontmatter, no duplicate names.
- CI: build + drift check and an offline Pi CLI load test of pi/core.
- Release: VERSION, package.json and pi/core/package.json at 2.2.2, CHANGELOG, tag-triggered release verification, and a two-week cadence in CONTRIBUTING.md.

pi/core: 123 of 293 skills and 24 of 94 commands; 35,006 characters of skill description text.

Kumar Prateek 51a6950bde fix(memory-vault): compare dev only when both stats report one (#2637)
ecc memory writes and --body-file reads fail on Windows. sameFileIdentity()
compares the dev field of a path-based stat against a handle-based fstat, and
libuv 1.49.0 through 1.50.x resolve path-based stat() and lstat() on Windows
through GetFileInformationByName, which leaves the volume serial unset while
fstat() reports it. The comparison never matches, so the TOCTOU guard rejects
every operation.

Keep the inode strict and compare dev only when both sides report one. POSIX
always reports a non-zero dev, so the original strict behaviour is preserved
there.

Request the guard's stats as BigInt. On the affected libuv versions dev is 0,
which leaves the inode as the only identity signal, and Windows file IDs run
past Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER where two distinct files can collapse to the same
number-valued inode.

Affaan MustafaandECC Test ff768db363 feat(mcp): single-connector default set + connector policy (#2219)
Reduce the default .mcp.json to one connector (chrome-devtools) per the
new policy in docs/MCP-CONNECTOR-POLICY.md: a default earns its slot only
if it is universal AND MCP beats a CLI/API wrapped in a skill. June 2026
audit verdicts: github -> gh via github-ops skill; context7 -> REST via
documentation-lookup; exa -> harness-native search (+ exa-search skill);
memory -> native harness memory + instincts; playwright -> playwright CLI
skills (vendor moved agent flows off MCP); sequential-thinking -> native
extended thinking. All six remain opt-in in mcp-configs/mcp-servers.json.
Tests updated: plugin-manifest policy assertions + install-apply Cursor
expectations.
