Expose per-call firmware analysis budgets with exact recovery guidance, shared
CLI/MCP validation and retained actual settings. Keep publication and fixed
resource policy independent; preserve typed interruption and one captured-output
owner through command and one-shot cleanup.
Fixes#5851. Executed verification, real-provider limits, known baseline issues
and authorized readiness override are recorded in #5863.

Distinguish CDP session detachment, observed crashes, and transport loss. Preserve the observed window alongside the original typed coverage-stop failure and unconfirmed cleanup.
Validated with 40 focused boundary tests, check:ci, docs:check, and the real Chrome public CLI/MCP verifier on macOS. Browser timing comparison remains incomplete because unchanged-main fixture readiness was intermittent.
Fixes#5756
Retain process input and unexpected failure diagnostics through the shared error projector. Preserve filesystem causes and firmware validation issues, and mark unchanged invalid requests nonretryable.
Use typed stat settlement and parse unknown command failures without losing null or undefined rejection causes.
Refs #5397, #5401, #5402, #5642
Add shared, typed input-contract and timeout-state recovery guidance. Normalize SDK input failures within the actual MCP wire budget, preserve full diagnostics and protocol metadata, and retain original Evidence when normalized delivery would exceed the budget.
Fixes#5431.
Project large local Evidence captures through the authenticated file-source boundary and add guarded opt-in sibling-pair path inference. Preserve request cancellation, resource ownership and file-relative validation diagnostics.
Validated relevant source and compiled CLI/MCP/environment boundaries, static/build/docs/catalog gates, and a real isolated Gitea 28.2.0 capture through CLI, default stdio MCP and HTTP replay. Current-head automated review passed; unrelated long-running platform jobs may still be pending.

* feat(artifacts): read Godot PCK packs
Add a Godot Engine PCK artifact reader for standalone packs and packs
embedded behind an executable trailer (formats 2 and 3). Members are
uncompressed byte ranges verified against their declared MD5 on read.
Encrypted directories, sparse bundles, patch removal entries, unknown
flags and format 1 fail closed as unavailable; encrypted members are
reported without being read. inspect-artifact and extract-artifact
recognize standalone packs by their GDPC magic.

* fix(artifacts): bound Godot PCK metadata and own member streams
Cap member paths at 4096 bytes and the retained directory at 64 MiB
before allocation. Read members with positional chunk reads through
pipeline so cancellation is typed, abandoned consumers release their
source, and the shared descriptor stays reader-owned. Retain the root
descriptor for godot-pck inventory, as for ZIP and universal Mach-O.

* feat(artifacts): complete Godot PCK facts, integrity and selected views
* fix(artifacts): preserve atomic-root inventory Evidence

Retain the primary error through cleanup composition and resolve its presentation only after live ownership confirms release. Preserve historical diagnostics separately from producer facts.
Validate domain primary types, nested owners, denied retry and late observations; exercise public CLI and MCP projection plus firmware descriptor retry. Focused tests, source controls, static checks and docs pass. Native providers were not verified.

* fix(native): report PE input byte budgets as file-size limits
PeResourcesProvider translated every ArtifactReaderFailure with reason
"limit" into a memory resource constraint, so an image above the
caller's max_file_bytes was reported as a memory problem with memory
remediation advice. The bound that was exceeded is the input file's
byte length, which the caller raises with a flag.
Record the constrained bound on the failure the way ElectronFuseReader
already does, declare it at the reader's two input-byte refusals and at
the parser's metadata and entry budgets, and report that bound instead
of assuming memory. Readers that do not declare a boundary are
unchanged.
Fixes#4192
* fix(native): keep caller-selected PE budget refusals actionable
Address review findings on the budget classification:
- withCleanup now forwards the constrained bound, so a file that grows past
its byte limit while its handle also fails to close is still reported as
a file-size refusal rather than a memory one.
- Both caller-selected bounds carry their own remediation, pointing at
max_file_bytes and max_entries instead of the file-size fallback's worker
write-limit advice.
- AnalysisResourceConstraintError can declare that retrying cannot succeed.
The entry budget is deterministic for the same file and limit, so it no
longer inherits admission capacity's retryable behaviour.
The projection falls back to the previous resource-kind rule when a caller
does not declare retryability, so other capacity refusals are unchanged.
* fix(native): preserve budget retryability and name the schema ceiling
Address the remaining review findings on the budget classification:
- Failure redaction and the caller-copy path rebuilt resource constraint
errors without forwarding retryable, so a deterministic capacity refusal
projected as retryable again and automated callers could loop on it.
Both constructors now forward the declared boolean.
- Both remediations recommended raising a bound the caller had already
set to the schema maximum. The maxima are now named constants shared
with the schema, and the remediation names the operation's hard ceiling
when the caller is already at it.
Preserve Electron cleanup observer reasons and typed primary failures through the shared error projection. Keep ownership and partial Evidence semantics intact.

Replace fixed Linux Hopper release pins with current vendor feed metadata,
complete detached-PGP package verification under the stable publisher primary
key, and authenticated package evidence for offline admission. Share parsed
publisher facts across approved setup, doctor and the pre-execution guard.
Preserve existing ownership, cancellation, private-display and cleanup rules.
Fixes#3577
Normalize empty XDG settings, preserve backups during approved cache repair,
and retain publisher cleanup through cancellation and shutdown. Exercise cold
offline verification without reusing process-local proof state. Serialize
approved cache publication across processes, restore old evidence on failure,
and share the existing lease owner from process without changing its identities.
Validation: 438 focused tests (six platform-related skips), full static/documentation checks, real Ubuntu
24.04 official Hopper 6.6.0 setup/CLI/MCP, offline ordinary-user admission,
launcher mutation rejection, and cold/warm verification measurements. Official
RPM metadata mismatch is tracked separately in #3578 and fails closed.
BREAKING CHANGE: Older Linux Hopper builds admitted by the fixed allowlist
now require retained publisher-signed package evidence or an approved update
to the current public demo. Update explicit HOPPER_LAUNCHER_PATH values when
migrating; the live feed exposes only its current release.

Verified with real Windows 11 CLI, same-connection SDK MCP normal/conflict/recovery, the Windows native verifier, 99 focused tests and static/docs gates. Official npm 11.16.0 launcher sources were the application input. No IDA or Ghidra engine was used for this change. Win32 5 was not reproduced; no resolution claim for #1701/#2196. Give atomic Evidence and snapshot writes an explicit resource owner, preserve primary failures and completed publication receipts, and retry retained staging cleanup at the owning lifecycle. Verify inode identity before publishing or deleting; unknown path disappearance remains a cleanup failure. Keep snapshot admission reusable when a session closes and reopens.
Consolidate JavaScript source-scope classification so cancellation cannot fabricate failures for unselected files. Classify configuration failures as invalid input. Remove stale assertions and reuse shared test cleanup ownership.
Validation: 266 focused tests before final ownership tightening, 108 affected tests afterward, static and documentation checks, actual invalid-configuration CLI behavior, and isolated test temporary-directory hygiene.

* fix(build): emit no runtime imports for type-only bindings
Under verbatimModuleSyntax, an import whose specifiers all carry inline
`type` modifiers compiles to `import {} from "..."`, a side-effect import
that still resolves and evaluates the module. 78 compiled modules carried
one, including `import {} from "playwright-core"` in the browser scenario
session, which loaded Playwright's module graph at MCP startup.
Use top-level `import type` for these bindings and enable oxlint's
typescript/no-import-type-side-effects rule so the pattern cannot return.

* perf(mcp): load Playwright when a scenario launches, not at startup
The browser scenario and Electron active providers are constructed before
the stdio server serves, and both bound Playwright's launchers at module
load. Resolve `chromium` and `_electron` from playwright-core when a
capture opens instead, as the web module resolver already does.
MCP startup now resolves 1,312 modules (4,902 resolutions) instead of
1,598 (6,076) before reading the first request, and no longer loads
playwright-core. Provider construction, the tool catalog, and capability
inventory are unchanged.
A boundary test spawns the stdio server, initializes, lists tools, and
asserts playwright-core and isomorphic-git were not resolved; the CLI
probe now exercises the real launch path to prove detection.

An EvidenceFileError for a missing evidence file, a selected path that is
not a regular file, or an output that already exists projected code and
category execution_failure. The message already told the caller to
correct the path, but agents branching on code or category saw a tool
failure.
Project those three reasons as invalid_request with category
invalid_input. An unreadable file (io) and invalid JSON keep their
codes.

Every configuration failure projected the same message, "REA configuration
is invalid. Run `rea doctor` and fix the reported setting.", with no
details. The environment parser discarded the issue that names the variable
(for example `REA_GHIDRA_NATIVEAOT_JAR must be absolute`), and doctor can
report healthy for that environment, so neither the CLI, the MCP startup
message, nor doctor told callers which setting to correct.
ConfigurationError now carries the rejected settings and their constraints
(never their values). The projection names them in its message, lists them
in `details.settings`, and asks the caller to correct those settings where
REA is started. Errors without a named setting keep the previous message.

Opening a target the current user cannot read returned
`target_unavailable`, the same code as a missing target, although the
reason named EACCES. Clients that branch on the error code could not choose
read-access recovery, contrary to the boundary contract that separates host
permission denial from unavailable targets.
A BinaryTargetError whose cause is an OS EACCES or EPERM now records that
system code and projects as `access_denied` with `system_code`, the
filesystem-read boundary, and read-access remediation, while keeping its
specific reason and path. This covers target files, app bundle paths and
Info.plist reads, and selected plist reads, since every site passes the OS
error as the cause.

Reading a nonexistent Evidence bundle or snapshot, or exporting into a
directory that does not exist, failed as reason "io" with "Evidence
file could not be accessed. Check file permissions", and with no path.
In `rea compare` the caller could not tell which of the two files
failed.
Map ENOENT and ENOTDIR to a new "missing" reason with read- and
write-specific advice. Every EvidenceFileError now carries the resolved
caller path in its projected details. Permission and other I/O failures
keep the existing advice.

Artifact path failures told callers to "inspect the reported path" but
reported none: `ArtifactReaderFailure` messages such as
`Artifact path collision: ...` were dropped when converted to
`ArtifactOperationError`, leaving only `{ operation, reason: "path" }`.

JavaScript application analysis. Name both spellings in case-fold
collisions and include the JSON-escaped input in unsafe and

Move each error family out of domain/errors.ts into its own module
(base, core, provider selection/adapter, browser observation,

* fix(comparisons)!: preserve unknowns across partial observations
Share absence and digest semantics, keep unobserved managed bodies unknown, and match unique managed type/name/signatures before structural fallback.
BREAKING CHANGE: Managed comparison metadata adds exact-signature matching and its count, and name_matching now reports exact-signature-fallback.
* fix(javascript): preserve projected result binding semantics
Share syntax-aware property reads and assigned-result resolution. Retain destructuring paths and downgrade downstream whole-result relationships instead of resolving nested or wrapped calls as aliases.
* fix(native)!: admit complete parser values and preserve typed failures
Decode Mach headers by named columns, validate complete slice keys and lipo alignment, and preserve codesign runtime flags and tagged parser errors. Rename the Ghidra test dossier fixture and connect fake-backed suites to real verification lanes.
BREAKING CHANGE: Native load-command results no longer contain the unused, always-null file_offset field.
* fix(process): preserve host identity and actionable boundary failures
Thread selected platform and environment through process and Doctor seams, stamp observed producer identity in Evidence, and retain PTY, filesystem, lease and lazy-provider failure causes. Drain cancelled lazy loads and omit exited descendants from verified lineage.
* fix(browser): preserve cleanup and document-transition evidence
Make V8 and Playwright teardown cancellation-aware, expose primary failures alongside incomplete cleanup, share frame-tree and navigation rules, and clear stale WebMCP registrations without pruning unrelated child frames.
* fix(adapters): align managed targets and typed CLI outcomes
Inspect managed PE/CLI targets independently of native provider selection, reuse successful managed selections, and keep evidence bound to the actual inspected target. Classify canonical CLI error envelopes and exhaustive setup/update/uninstall outcomes, audit registered CLI coverage, and assert platform-specific runtime results.
* docs: refresh boundary contracts and shipped roadmap behavior
* fix(hopper): report unavailable procedure body coverage
* refactor!: simplify runtime tools and remove replay engines
Keep direct inspection, capture, and comparison tools. Bind handlers to named contracts and let agents compose experiments with commands and local fixture servers.
BREAKING CHANGE: Remove controlled replay, Node characterization, finite replay-machine, managed runtime planning, and redundant string-tracing tools. Retire process replay, shims, reactive scenarios, custom checkpoints, and active browser replay and origin-scope inputs.
