feat(native): report binary hardening for ELF, PE and Mach-O (#8524)
* feat(native): report binary hardening for ELF, PE and Mach-O Documents inspect_binary_hardening and its CLI equivalent, including per-property states, supporting evidence, read budgets, and one report per Mach-O slice. Explains that missing protection imports remain unknown, signature presence does not establish validity, and hardened runtime requires inspect_signature. Adds hardening links throughout the documentation. The supplied diff also removes the advanced CodeQL workflow and configuration, along with snapshot-binding mismatch guidance. * fix(native): validate declared payloads and dynamic tables before hardening rows Run the shared range checks for ELF, read imports from the dynamic tables rather than section metadata, and keep an unresolved symbol count apart from an absent table. Check every Mach-O command before building rows and retain only the offsets the rows need. Make the verifier's readelf output wide, check the emitted format before parsing Mach-O, and place the sources before the libraries in the link. * fix(native): share Mach-O segment admission with hardening reads A segment with a section count its cmdsize cannot hold passed the hardening reader and could enable restrict_segment. Move the size, section count and file range checks to a shared admission that readMachoImage and the hardening reader both use, and pin the ELF load-size case with a regression test. * fix(hardening): reject Mach-O section payloads past the slice and empty ELF interpreters Segment admission never checked each section's payload range, so a file-backed section past the slice still produced rows. Decode sections with the section header owner and mark the slice malformed when a payload leaves it; zero-fill and empty sections own no file bytes and are exempt. admitInterp accepted a NUL first byte in a longer extent, which counted an empty interpreter as PIE evidence. It now requires a nonempty path. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01KuWHGvzJkrhCqjtEHUwqyH * fix(native): read CFG instrumentation from decoded GuardFlags Use the IMAGE_GUARD_CF_INSTRUMENTED flag that guardFlagRecord already decodes instead of masking the raw GuardFlags word a second time. * fix(native): reject ELF table spans a second PT_LOAD remaps The hardening reader mapped DT_STRTAB, DT_SYMTAB and hash tables through the one PT_LOAD containing the table's first address. A second PT_LOAD starting inside the table could map the rest of it from other file bytes and the reader still reported parsed import evidence. Cap each mapping at the next PT_LOAD that starts inside it, reject a requested range that crosses that boundary, and stop hash reads at the same limit, matching the conflicting-mapping refusal in readElfSymbols. * fix(native): dedupe ELF note tables only on shared boundaries The hardening reader dropped any note table whose bytes another table already covered. A covering SHT_NOTE can hold a non-GNU note whose descriptor is itself a complete GNU property note, while PT_NOTE names that inner note directly. Walking only the outer stream missed the GNU marker and reported CET disabled. Drop an alias only when it starts and ends on boundaries of admitted tables, which are note boundaries of the walked streams. Any other covered alias leaves the feature rows unknown, as a partial overlap already does. * fix(native): admit every Mach-O symbol record after a canary match The Mach-O stack protector scan returned as soon as it found an undefined ___stack_chk_fail, so a later undefined symbol whose n_strx lay outside the string table was never checked. The same damaged table parsed or failed as malformed depending only on record order. Keep the match and finish the bounded record walk. Records after the match are only checked against the string table bounds, so their names are not read or charged to the scan budget. The ELF reader already admits its whole symbol table before matching names. * fix(native): accept ELF load aliases with the same file translation The hardening reader treated every PT_LOAD that starts inside a table, or that also contains the table's address, as a conflicting mapping. A load with the same address-to-file translation names the same file bytes, so tables it overlaps still have one interpretation, and the canonical ElfLoadMap already merges such spans. Treat equivalent loads as one interpretation. A load with a different translation, or the zero-filled tail of an equivalent load, still ends the usable range, so a remapped table is still rejected. * fix(native): keep same-span ELF note tables with different alignments unknown A section and a program header that share endpoints were treated as one note stream even when their effective note alignments differed. Walking the same bytes at 4 and 8 can frame different notes, so dropping the second table could hide a GNU property word and report CET or BTI as disabled. Require matching effective alignment at both endpoints, and no alignment change inside the covered span, before treating a table as an alias. Otherwise mark the feature rows unknown. The fixture's .note.gnu.property section now declares the class's note alignment, as toolchains emit it. * refactor(native): read LC_SYMTAB through the shared fixed-word decoder Move the Mach-O fixed uint32 command layouts out of MachoCommandNames into domain/apple/machoLoadCommands so there is one owner of those offsets. MachoCommandNames and the hardening reader now both decode through it; the hardening reader keeps its own bounds and import policy. * fix(native): skip Mach-O common definitions in canary imports A common definition sets N_UNDF|N_EXT like an import but stores its allocation size in n_value. An object holding only `int __stack_chk_fail;` therefore reported stack_protector: enabled. Require a zero n_value before an undefined external counts as an import, for both nlist widths. * refactor(native): read linkedit data commands through the shared fixed-word decoder readMachoLinkeditDataCommand reproduced the dataoff/datasize offsets that FIXED_WORD_FIELDS already owns. Take the command and decode through decodeMachoFixedWordFields, as readMachoSymtabCommand does, keeping the truncation and endianness behavior. * fix(native): skip empty SHT_NOTE sections in ELF hardening A zero-sized SHT_NOTE owns no bytes, so the section directory marks it not file-backed and the hardening reader rejected the whole image as malformed, while readElfImage accepted the same bytes. Skip empty note sections before the file-backing check; they have nothing to walk. * fix(scripts): run hardening verifier commands through the shared owner The binary hardening verifier started its probes and compiler drivers with raw spawnSync, which bypassed the src/process/ supervision that AGENTS.md requires. Every launch now goes through createVerifierCommands, and the temporary root is removed only after the owner closes cleanly. * fix(scripts): clean up hardening verifier commands on Ctrl-C SIGINT or SIGTERM ended Node before withVerifierCleanup ran, so detached compiler trees and the temporary root could outlive the verifier. The verifier now turns those signals into an abort that every owned command receives, so cleanup closes the owner and removes the root before exit. * fix(scripts): fail the hardening verifier when a signal lands outside a command Only the owned commands read the interruption signal, so a SIGINT or SIGTERM during the final cleanup or between commands was recorded and then dropped, and the verifier exited 0. After cleanup settles, the verifier now throws the interruption reason. A failure the operation or its cleanup already raised still leaves first and is not replaced. * fix(native): fail Mach-O slices with a malformed encryption command The hardening reader turned every malformed status from the shared encryption reader into an unknown `encrypted` row, so a short LC_ENCRYPTION_INFO_64 or an encrypted range past the slice still left the slice parsed with a full report. Only two conflicting encryption commands stay an unknown row now. Any other encryption defect fails the slice like other structural command failures. * fix(native): ignore STB_LOCAL undefined ELF symbols as imports A local undefined __stack_chk_fail or __memcpy_chk is never resolved against another object, so it does not establish an external import. Skip STB_LOCAL bindings when reading protector signs, and give the fixture's positive symbols STB_GLOBAL binding. --------- Co-authored-by: Matt Van Horn <455140+mvanhorn@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(desktop): capture and export apps installed from a downloaded .deb (#8954)
* feat(desktop): capture a Linux desktop application in use Add `capture-desktop-application`, a CLI-only, Linux and X11 capture that launches an installed desktop application, watches it while it is used and writes capture Evidence plus SHA-256 addressed content: - inventory: desktop entry, launch command, executable, package and its apt sources (or snap, flatpak, AppImage), Electron markers and candidate state directories; - session: the launched process tree, client windows from xprop with the first application window time and a window match, and files held open; - state: a stat walk of the home directory before launch, at checkpoints read from stdin, at stop and after exit, with created, modified, deleted and retyped paths and the content of changed files and state directories. It refuses non-Linux hosts, missing DISPLAY or xprop, a non-empty output folder and an application whose window is already open, and signals only processes it started. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): own launched processes, confirm walk coverage and keep cancelled captures - Launch through the owned provider path with a run token; release with SIGTERM, then the token-verified group cleanup, after every session. Processes without the token are never signalled; each records whether it carries it, and the session records whether cleanup was verified. - Report creations and deletions only where a walk listed the nearest existing directory; count the rest as unconfirmed. - Retain a file only when it is still the walked version, through owned no-follow reads; charge the budget only for new content; create files exclusively in a private output folder owned by the caller. - Walk content roots outside the home directory, compare paths in their physical spelling, and run executables from the caller's directory. - Refuse when the window list cannot be read, re-evaluate window ownership each sample, handle one queued request per sample with a bounded stdin queue, and write the capture with end reason `cancelled` on interruption. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep owned cleanup failures and fresh digests - Allow a capture cancelled before any requested checkpoint to hold only the baseline. - Retry an incomplete stop once; if cleanup is still unverified, write the capture and fail with the run token and process group as cleanup resources. - Classify path changes after a walk (ENOTDIR and other selected-file errors) as changed_since_walk instead of failing the capture. - Treat a non-directory ancestor as proof that nothing existed beneath it. - Report a before digest only for the file version it was read from. - Derive stderr_truncated from stderr's own byte counts. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * wip(desktop): state view over a capture folder Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep failed file-handle closes owned for retry Content reads pass retainFailedClose, so a handle whose close fails stays owned by the content store; the capture retries those closes after it is written and fails with the output folder as the cleanup resource if one still cannot be closed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(desktop): read a captured application's state Add inspect-desktop-application-state, a CLI command that reads a capture folder into the application's state: every retained or changed file with its role and reasons, a typed JSON view of each version (SQLite through the shared worker, dconf through a private dconf dump, JSON, XML, key files, text) and the kinds of change between versions (lines, values, keys, rows). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): report process and handle cleanup failures together When both the launched processes and a retained file's handle remain unresolved after the capture is written, one cleanup error now lists both reasons and both resource sets. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(desktop): export a captured application as an agentenv computer app Add export-desktop-application, which writes an agentenv bundle with one computer_app environment from a capture folder and its state view: the apt package, a boot launch matched on the captured window class with a window ready check, owned paths from the state roles, a seed of the baseline files, data hooks that call agentenv's add/get/reset helpers with a typed JSON view on get, a skill, a README and a deploy smoke task. The desktop CLI commands now load their services lazily. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep state views faithful to the capture - Read key files, XML attributes, dconf groups and SQLite tables into dictionaries without inherited properties, so captured keys such as __proto__ stay data. - Version databases with their write-ahead log as of each checkpoint, and stage only digest-verified bytes for the SQLite and dconf readers. - Detect the format per version, report format changes, keep JSON null and empty containers as values, keep XML text and preserved whitespace, and mark truncated views (including XML depth) and comparisons of them. - Number versions and changes by checkpoint index, decide baseline presence from the captured type, and keep tagged SQLite integers, text bytes and blobs distinct. - Carry the capture's limitations and omitted content forward, match state directories by their home path, index changes once per capture, keep failed handle closes owned, and finish the CLI through the shared owner. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep coverage, logs and handles honest in the state view - Read coverage flags only from formats whose readers write them, so JSON fields named truncated stay data. - Fail a SQLite version whose write-ahead log existed but was not retained or does not match its digest, instead of reading the database alone. - Close retained content on every exit, including cancellation, and report a close that still fails together with the primary failure. - Finish the CLI with the canonical operation name. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): export only what the computer can install and seed - Refuse packages not from the Ubuntu 24.04 archive, since the computer installs by name from that archive. - Start the launch command in the captured working directory. - Respell the home path only in files the state view read as text. - Report files that were not retained instead of dropping them silently. - Load captured dconf keys for apps that own no files. - Keep home-level files as owned paths; rename reserved Python class names. - Mark truncated SQLite and text views in the class's get view, and read file types the way the state view does. - Release the output tree through a resource scope, and read seeds through an owner closed on every exit. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep staged folders owned, symlinked state roots and XML values - Stage database bytes in a private runtime root released through a resource scope, so a failed removal keeps its owner and is reported with the read's outcome. - Report cleanup facts and owners from desktop failures instead of wrapping them as a plain adapter error. - Record the state directories as walked, in their physical spelling, and match roles against both spellings, so files in a symlinked state directory are not mistaken for selected documents. - Keep whitespace-only XML leaf values; drop only formatting between elements. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): read XML in the exported app the way the state view does Keep whitespace-only leaf values and xml:space="preserve" text in the generated get view; drop only formatting between elements. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): release retained handles with their owners, read older captures - Release retained-content handles whose close failed through a resource scope on every exit; a release that fails again reports the exact handle owners. A read that finished keeps its bytes when only its close failed. - Accept captures written before state directories were recorded, and say in the state view's limitations that symlinked state directories may be misclassed for them. - Compute each XML element's whitespace context once instead of scanning siblings for every text run. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): boot without the working folder, bound XML, accept mirrors - Try the captured working directory only when an argument is relative, and start the app even when that folder is missing. - Cut the generated XML view at REA's node and depth limits, and keep one unreadable file from failing data/get. - Accept Ubuntu 24.04 mirrors, not only the canonical hosts; PPAs and other repositories are still refused. - Read seeds through the retained-content owner's new signature. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): state view review round - Stage a retained -journal beside its database so the SQLite worker accepts an inactive journal and refuses a hot one; a -wal or -journal that existed but was not retained (including one omitted at the baseline) makes the version unreadable. - Keep tables that read when another fails, and let cancellation and unfinished cleanup propagate instead of becoming view errors. - Read text as a key file only when every line parses as one. - Rank a file named in a window title or selected by the caller as a document even when the application holds it open; match titles on file-name boundaries; leave the display name out of dconf matching. - Bound JSON and key file views (4 MiB, 500 levels, exact numbers) and report too-large, missing and altered retained content separately. - Add no version or change while a database stays absent. - Read staged databases in place instead of copying them again. - Give Evidence the same limitations as the result. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): export review round - Load captured dconf keys without D-Bus: install dconf-cli, compile the existing and captured key files into the user database, and warn on failure instead of stopping the server. - Start relative-argument launches in the captured working directory, the home included, since the framework launches from the app folder; respell the home itself and option values under it. - Read views in a thread, skip files over 64 MiB, align the generated readers with the state view's, and close SQLite connections. - Never own the home or a shared base folder; map a symlinked state directory's files back to their home spelling. - Report omitted files and unretained opened folders. - Name the module so it cannot shadow another, and keep the class off the module's own names; derive names the bundle check accepts. - Write seeds as they are read, and remove an unpublished bundle on failure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): capture review round - Ask the launch process group and token carriers to exit before killing them, on errors too; report incomplete cleanup with its facts. - Count descendants of the launch as started by the capture even when their environment cannot be read; treat a reused pid as a new process. - Follow symlinked desktop entries; name a flatpak's state after its application id; match flatpak windows by name only. - Stop on end of input; refuse empty, duplicate and reserved checkpoint names; require whitespace after the checkpoint keyword. - Stay on each walk root's device, and never walk or retain `/` or a directory containing the home; say so in the limitations. - Refuse a window manager that does not publish _NET_CLIENT_LIST. - Remove retained content when a capture fails before it is written. - Skip reading a file larger than the remaining content budget. - Record apt's archive origin for each package source. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): read an unset client list as no windows when supported xfwm4 leaves _NET_CLIENT_LIST unset while it manages no windows, so the capture refused an ordinary desktop with nothing open. Read _NET_SUPPORTED with the list: an unset list means no windows when the window manager supports it, and the capture is refused only when it does not. `xprop`'s "no such atom" output now reads as unset too. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): accept packages by apt's archive origin Accept a package source when apt reports its origin as Ubuntu for a noble suite, so mirrors count and PPAs or other repositories that merely have "ubuntu" in their URL do not. Captures made before origins were recorded fall back to Canonical's own archive hosts. Seed reads report why retained content could not be used. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(desktop): capture and export apps from vendor apt repositories A closed-source app installed from its vendor's apt repository, such as Typora, can now be captured and exported as a computer app. - The capture records each non-Ubuntu repository listing the installed version (uri, suite, components from apt's sources files, one-line or deb822) and the key that signs it: the signed-by key, or the trusted key that gpgv shows verifies the repository's signed index. The key is retained with the capture. - The capture records the packages owning the libraries the executable loads (DT_NEEDED with RUNPATH and the linker cache, through REA's ELF readers), since a vendor package may not depend on them. - The export declares a verified vendor repository as an AptSource with its key, installs a vendor package's library packages, and adds --no-sandbox to an Electron app's launch, since a container denies Chromium's sandbox. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): report a locked database at once in data/get A database the running app holds locked made each data/get wait sqlite's five-second busy timeout before reporting it. Record the Typora run in an agentenv computer in the verification. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf(desktop): detect key files without splitting the whole text Read lines one at a time and stop at the first that a key file view would drop, instead of splitting a file of up to 64 MiB into arrays before its format is known. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep symlinked homes and state folders under the home in exports - Respell a path under its state folder's logical spelling only when that spelling is under the captured home, so a symlinked HOME keeps its files; pair walked and logical state folders only when the capture lists the same number, and match the innermost folder first. - When two files map to one home path, keep the one present before the capture and name the other in the limitations. - Read key files in the generated data/get with the state view's rule, checked against it by running the helper under python3. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): end captures on zombies and keep cleanup owners - A zombie or dead process no longer keeps the session open. - Remove only the partial capture file this run created. - Keep the exact owners of handles and processes whose cleanup failed on the returned error, so a retry can release them; test the published capture's cleanup-failure branch with mixed outcomes and retries. - Release the application once even when the exit checkpoint fails. - A cancellation before the capture is written removes what it retained. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): vendor package review round - Match apt sources through `apt-get indextargets`, which covers flat `./` and `/` suites and gives each release file and sources entry. - Accept a key whose signature verifies even when the release carries another signature without a key here; keep only the verifying key from a keyring holding several (OpenPGP packet splitter). - Install the package from its repository's release (`name/<release>`), declare one source per URI and suite, support only the capture host's architecture, and refuse Ubuntu Pro repositories. - List only library packages the computer can install; walk libraries only for vendor installs, with RPATH inherited as ld.so does, normalized paths, and DT_NEEDED bounded while reading. - Put --no-sandbox after the program an env wrapper launches; keep the gpgv folder's owner when its removal fails; respect --max-file-bytes for keys; wait 0.25 s on a busy SQLite database in data/get. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): keep the vendor spec's gpgv command on one line A code span broken across lines left `<binary keyring>` for VitePress to read as an unclosed HTML tag, so the docs build failed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(desktop): add a validated task to exported desktop applications Each capture can now yield one agentenv task in its exported bundle. An agent writes the task (a prompt plus declarative checks over the app's data/get views); REA validates it and stays model-free. - `describe-desktop-application-task` summarises a capture's net change per file (role, format, views before and after) and drafts checks. - Checks: file presence, lines present/absent/counted, JSON-pointer values, SQLite rows and counts. REA keeps a task only if a check fails on the seed and every check passes on the captured end state; a file that was not retained at the baseline counts as absent, as the computer starts. - `export-desktop-application --task` writes tasks/NAME.json (deploy, agent, skills, recording, prompt, verifier), a compiled verify.py that reads data/get, and an eval. A boundary test runs the verifier under python3 and checks it agrees with REA's evaluator on every check kind. - Docs, spec and skill guidance, with the solve-rate recipe. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(desktop): keep the seed test in its own block Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): record the task verifier driven in an agentenv computer Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): record the Typora task run in an agentenv computer Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep task checks bounded, complete and attributable - line_count counts lines holding a substring (contains) instead of matching a regular expression, which could stall the verifier on agent-written text and read differently in Python. - value_equals of a whole object or array is undecided on a truncated view. - The draft keeps a database whose rows changed under an unchanged hash, and a file whose truncated views match while it changed. - A task file that cannot be read keeps the reader's detail, and a failed cleanup keeps the read failure as its primary. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): leave a file with one version out of the task draft Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): update the task verification's test counts Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): record the task solve rate with Claude Code and Sonnet 5.5 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(desktop): capture and export apps installed from a downloaded .deb capture-desktop-application --package-file reads the file's control fields with dpkg-deb and records its SHA-256, size and dependencies when it holds the installed package; the file itself is never kept. The library walk now also runs for local installs. export-desktop-application --package-url declares agentenv's Download(url, sha256) for that file, its dependencies and library packages as apt packages, and a run script that installs it with dpkg. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): seed app-named dotfiles and respell UTF-16 seeds The capture now treats dotfiles in the home named after the application (.varicad-cfg.ini, .notesrc) as state roots, so a file the app only reads during the capture is still seeded. The exported seeding respells the captured home in UTF-16 text files with a byte-order mark, keeping the mark. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): hold readiness until the app's own window shows An exported app is ready only once a window of its class that the taskbar lists is shown, so a splash screen of the class, which skips the taskbar, no longer counts as the app being up. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(desktop): record VariCAD captured, exported and run in an agentenv computer Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep exported views strict JSON for infinite and inexact numbers The exported data/get spells infinite and negative-zero SQLite reals as REA's SQLite reader does ("Infinity", "-Infinity", "-0"), and refuses a JSON file holding a number that reading would change (1e999, integers past 2^53, -0, rounded fractions) with the state view's own error, instead of a view with an infinity in it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep package-file facts tied to one file and URLs unechoed - A --package-url refusal never repeats the URL, and credentials are checked before the scheme. - The package file's identity must hold between dpkg-deb's read and the hash. - A failed close keeps its cleanup owner even when the capture is cancelled. - Readiness also ignores windows typed as splash screens. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): record database logs and keep state changes distinct - A selected path that is not a directory brings its -wal and -journal as content roots, so the capture records whether they exist and retains them. - The state view treats a file as absent only under recorded content roots and refuses a database whose log presence is unknown. - JSON changes list containers too, so an array that becomes an object with the same members is a change. - Key file entries escape the key as a JSON pointer segment, so [a/b] c and [a] b/c stay apart. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep watching through unread samples and late workers - An unreadable window list is unknown, not zero windows, and is named in the limitations. - Before ending the session, live run-token carriers no parent link reached are tracked; an unreadable process table leaves the exit unknown. - An env prefix's assignments find the program and name its XDG folders. - flatpak run options that take a value are skipped with it, -- is honoured and a /arch/branch suffix is dropped from the id. - State directories include the entry's full id. - Path options refuse empty values; roots count toward the entry limit. - A capture file whose close failed stays owned and is retried on discard. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): bound apt sources, keep older captures and cleanup owners - Sources files parse into one stanza per line or deb822 paragraph with its URIs and suites kept as lists, so no URI x suite product is built. - Repository architectures and release are optional, so captures written before they were recorded parse; the export treats them as unrestricted and unknown. - Library sources are matched against every index of a declared repository's URI, suite and components. - Two failures side by side keep both causes and both cleanup owners, and a host file whose close fails reports a lease on its handle. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): match escaped key file entries and suggest containers through members - The draft's key file lookup uses the state view's escaped `group/key`, so a key holding `/` or `~` still gets its suggestion. - JSON and XML changes now list containers too; the draft suggests an added or removed container through its listed members, and a container only when none of its members is listed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): read relative PATH entries from the launch folder A program, or an empty or relative PATH entry, is resolved from the folder the program starts in, as the launch does, so `env PATH=. app` with the entry's Path still finds the app. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf(desktop): compare JSON views on one shared path JSON and XML changes are found by walking both trees with one shared pointer path, building a pointer only for a listed value, so memory follows depth rather than every container's full path. A pointer over 4096 characters is counted but not listed. A 256-level document with 4000-character keys went from about 251 MiB of heap to under 1 MiB. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep JSON Lines as text in the exported reader The exported reader parses the whole text before an inexact number makes it JSON with an error, so JSON Lines with an integer above 2^53 stay text as in REA. Over-long integer spellings are unsafe without converting them. The guide no longer claims large integers keep their value. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep the state-path help free of dash-led words The CLI alias check reads `-wal` and `-journal` in help text as short flags, so the help names the write-ahead log and rollback journal instead. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): never record or export apt source credentials - Source URIs lose any user name and password as they are parsed, the way apt splits them, and so do index-target URIs and descriptions and the sources apt-cache policy lists, so matching works whether or not apt prints them. - A repository whose entry held credentials is marked `uri_credentials_removed`, and the export refuses it, or an older capture whose URI still holds them, with a reason that names no URL. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): look programs up without normalizing their paths Program paths and PATH entries are joined rather than resolved, so `..` after a symbolic link means what it means to the launch. The lookup moves to its own module. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): note inexact JSON numbers with a flag, not a list The exported reader only needs to know whether any number was inexact, so it keeps a boolean instead of every rejected spelling. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): refuse older captures that still hold apt credentials A capture written before credentials were removed counted the credentialed repository's libraries as installable, so the export refuses it whole and asks for a new capture rather than declaring packages no source offers. Recorded policy sources are redacted in export messages too. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * test(desktop): keep the credential fixture on an example host A login on a real host reads as a secret to the commit scanner, so the older capture's fixture uses apt.example.com like the other credential tests. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): tidy looked-up paths and search relative entries only for env Empty and `.` segments are dropped from a looked-up program path, which keeps `/snap/bin/` entries recognisable as snaps, while `..` is still left for the kernel. Relative and empty PATH entries are searched only in the PATH an `env` prefix sets, which travels with the exported launch; the host's own PATH does not. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): keep excluded and unwalked database logs unknown The capture records the paths every walk left out, and the state view treats a log as absent only under content roots the baseline walked completely and outside those exclusions, so an excluded or unvisited log leaves the database unread rather than read without it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): judge JSON numbers after duplicate keys settle The exported reader marks an inexact number instead of flagging it during the parse, then looks for marks in the parsed value, so a number a later duplicate key overwrote no longer refuses the file, as in REA. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): redact a repository's policy source when it names it An older capture whose policy source matched no sources entry kept that text whole, and the export named the repository by it; the export now names it without any user name or password. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): never signal the launch group on unknown membership When the current read cannot observe a carrier's process group, the carrier is signalled on its own instead of letting an older process-table row grant a group-wide SIGTERM. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): look programs up in the launch's order and refuse host-relative finds The lookup searches PATH as the launch does, an empty entry meaning the launch folder, so inspection and launch name the same program. A program found only through a relative or empty entry of the host's own PATH is refused, since the exported computer would not have it; an env prefix's PATH travels with the command. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): count unchecked paths and keep logs behind them unknown Each walk counts the paths it could not stat and the directories on another device it did not enter, and the checkpoint records it as `unchecked_paths`. The state view treats a log as absent only when the baseline left nothing unchecked, so a log whose stat failed stays unknown. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * perf(desktop): scan parsed JSON with one iterator per level The check for marked numbers walks the parsed value with an iterator per nesting level instead of copying each container's children; a million-entry array went from about 15.7 MiB to 8.1 MiB of peak traced memory. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(desktop): start a relative program from its captured folder An exported launch whose program path is relative, such as `./app` from an entry's Path, now changes to the captured working directory first, as it already did for relative arguments. feat(artifacts): compare inventories from Evidence sources (#7869)
* feat(artifacts): compare artifacts by Evidence reference and from the CLI
compare_artifacts made agents send back the complete inventory Evidence
that REA already retains, and the CLI had no artifact comparison.
Each side of compare_artifacts now takes exactly one of: complete inline
Evidence (unchanged), {kind: "retained-evidence", evidence_id}, or
{kind: "evidence-file", path, evidence_id?}. The two references are the
sources inspect_analysis_view accepts; both tools now compose one
definition in evidenceReference.ts. A summary still resolves to its exact
retained parent, and every source form gives the same comparison Evidence.
An unresolvable retained reference is refused with a typed missing
reference error.
The application layer owns source resolution and the comparison Evidence,
so MCP and the new `rea compare-artifacts` command share one workflow.
readEvidenceFileSource reports bundle-selection refusals at the caller's
own field path.
* refactor(artifacts): resolve compare_artifacts sides like compare_functions
compare_functions, compare_wasm_interfaces and the JavaScript application
comparisons name each side with evidenceInputSchema and resolve it with
resolvePairedEvidenceRequest. compare_artifacts reached the same result
for inline and retained sides through its own dispatch.
evidenceSourceInputSchema now extends evidenceInputSchema with the
Evidence-file reference, and resolvePairedEvidenceSources sends inline and
retained sides to the same resolveEvidenceInput and file sides to the
shared Evidence file reader. compare_artifacts uses both, so the forms it
shares with compare_functions are parsed and resolved by one owner. The
advertised input schema is unchanged.
* docs(cli): point rea compare to compare-artifacts for inventory contents
rea compare (compare_bundles) compares records by Evidence identity and
explicit pairs and never reads artifact contents, so two build
inventories stay unresolved there. Its help and the CLI guide now name
compare-artifacts for that comparison.
* fix(artifacts): resolve summary parents within Evidence source bundles
* perf(evidence): reuse file-owned immutable authentication proofs
* test(evidence): inject failures at both authentication boundaries

feat(android): link native declarations to static JNI candidates (#7472)
Link original DEX native declarations to per-ABI function exports and relocated static JNI table candidates through shared CLI/MCP workflows. Preserve global attribution ambiguity, exact provenance, partial coverage and retained Evidence; default MCP delivery to bounded summaries with filtered/batch pages. Use one immutable ELF relocation decoder with streaming IL2CPP materialization, cooperative bounded export/version parsing and bounded JNI state. Results include validated headers, reservations, a node/property tree with bounded raw previews, and derived standard values and selected phandle references. Parsing enforces file, tree, and decoded representation budgets and rejects malformed input without partial success. feat(pe): inspect TLS callbacks and load configuration (#7008)
* feat(pe): inspect TLS callbacks and load configuration Adds inspect-pe-load-config and inspect_pe_load_config for PE32 and PE32+ images, with artifact hashes and file ranges in the returned evidence. feat(environment): build agent environments from a prompt (#6946)
* feat(environment): report what an environment serves with an environment-coverage view
A new inspect_analysis_view kind over capture Evidence. It projects the
state an environment derives with the given template rules and reports
each tool as answered from state, replayed with its view reason, a served
write, or a withheld write with its reason, the records behind it and a
hint about what to record next. The hints cover every write reason, so a
new reason without one fails to compile.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(environment): build an environment bundle in one command
rea environment-build <capture> [directory] inspects a HAR (or reads
capture Evidence), projects the environment manifest from the in-memory
Evidence, authenticates the pair, prepares the state and writes the bundle
environment-export writes. Every bundle file is byte-identical to the
three-step path for the same capture and options.
The report adds the capture and manifest identities, the coverage summary,
warnings (a loopback capture named after its file, credential-named body
members by pointer) and the next command. --dry-run writes nothing. The
default template rules are the four the published environments use.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(environment): cover environment-build and the coverage view
Domain tests check the hint table against the state view's reasons, the
summary, and the view against the environment-state view it summarizes.
Service tests build the fixture capture and compare every file with the
three-step path, a dry run, loopback naming and the refusals. A CLI test
compares a HAR built in one step with the three CLI steps byte for byte,
and an MCP test projects the view from every source kind.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(environment): build the real-agentenv lane's bundle with environment-build
The lane now runs the command users run: it builds the Grafana-shaped HAR
with environment-build and the packed checkout, checks the report, then
runs the bundle with agent-env as before.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): document environment-build and the coverage view
The agent environments guide opens with the one-step build: the report,
the hint for each withheld write reason, and what a bundle ships. The CLI
guide, the capture guide and the skill reference name the command and the
environment-coverage view.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): harden environment-build after review
- The credential scan walks with its own stack, so a deeply nested body
cannot crash the build, and it also reports credential-named header
names, query names, form body members and string arrays.
- The build checks SIGINT between stages: cancelled before the bundle
stage it writes nothing, during the write it names the written bundle.
- A dry run opens the package tarball, so it refuses what a build refuses.
- Repeated template rules are refused, a HAR saved as .json gets a hint,
file-derived names follow the bundle name rules, `localhost.` counts as
a loopback origin, and the next command is shell-quoted.
- --capture-timeout-ms passes through to the HAR inspection, and a
missing directory is refused before inspection.
- The no-observation hint covers updates and deletes of entities the state
never held; the coverage view states that it does not apply the
serve-time admission checks; the inspect_analysis_view description
names the view.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): state the build's conditions and record its verification
The guides now state when the one-step bundle equals the three-step one,
which headers inspection excludes, what the credential warning scans, how
cancellation behaves, and that the coverage view does not apply the
serve-time admission checks. The spec folder records the census, the end
to end runs, the gates and the review.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): dispatch a pending interrupt before each build stage check
The manifest, state and coverage stages run synchronously, so a SIGINT
that arrived during them was only dispatched once the bundle write had
begun. Each check now yields first, so an interrupt before the bundle
stage cancels the build with nothing written.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(browser): send declared requests from a scenario page with a request step
A capture_browser_scenario step `request` sends one declared HTTP request
through the page's own fetch, with its cookies and session, the way the
application's frontend would, and reads the whole response so the capture
records the transaction like any other. The path must resolve to the start
URL's origin, and the page must be on that origin when the step runs.
Query values and header values may be literals or declared secrets, and a
header may read its value from a cookie or a local storage entry, which is
then redacted from later records like a declared secret. `expected_status`
fails the step on any other status. Scenarios without a request step are
unchanged.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(browser): verify request steps in a real browser through to a built environment
verify:browser:request records a write session against a fixture item API
that refuses writes without its CSRF cookie header and stored bearer
token. It checks that every request lands in its own step, that the page
values authenticated each write and appear in no record, header or body,
that an unexpected status fails the step and cancels the rest, and that
environment-build serves the recorded create, update and delete.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* feat(environment): export environment bundles over MCP
export_environment_bundle writes the bundle environment-build writes, from
capture Evidence retained in the session or one capture Evidence file,
into an absolute output directory that must not exist and whose parent
must exist, as extract_firmware and export_web_scripts require; it never
creates the parent or reuses a directory. It returns the same report,
whose schema now lives in the domain so the CLI and the tool share it, and
dry_run reports without writing. A loopback capture without a file needs a
name. The build's refusal messages no longer name CLI flags.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): scan scenario credentials, own the dry-run tarball and serialize Evidence once
A browser scenario's retained header values and the query parameters of its recorded URLs are scanned for credential
names as a HAR's are, through a review projection of its records. A dry run admits and releases the package tarball
through the export's regular-file scope, so a close it cannot confirm keeps its owner, and checks for cancellation
after that last await. Evidence is written into one exactly sized buffer instead of chunks joined by a copy.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): record the review round's checks
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(skill): build agent environments from a prompt with request steps and the bundle tool
Add the environments reference to the skill and install it with setup: record
against a disposable instance, sign in through the UI, write with request
steps and read each write back, check coverage, re-record by withheld reason
and export the bundle. Route it from SKILL.md, name agent environments in the
skill description, and document the request step, the export tool and
recording writes.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(browser): split the request lane and header resolution into smaller functions
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* style(environment): format the build spec
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): say when an untimed capture learns no write clock
Coverage of a capture whose records are not all timed, which includes every
browser scenario capture, now states that the state learns no clock, so an
update stamped with a server-set modification time stays unexplained-change
however often it is recorded.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(skill): give agents a whole scenario shape with step timeouts
Agents guessed the scenario schema field by field and two hung on steps
without timeout_ms. The reference now starts from a complete scenario with a
timeout on every step, and says a scenario capture cannot serve updates the
application stamps with a modification time.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(browser): keep request steps on their origin and their page values redacted
- Follow no redirects: a redirect fails the step and nothing reaches the
location it names (checked in real Chrome), and check the page's origin
again in the page as the request is sent.
- Send nothing once the step's time has run out or it was cancelled while
header values were read; the in-page deadline is what remains of the step's.
- Keep every page value redacted under a repeated or colliding label, keep a
value's first marker when it is read again, and leave values shorter than
8 characters unredacted rather than rewriting ids, ports and hosts.
- Refuse a header name given twice, User-Agent (Chrome drops it) and line
breaks in literal values and prefixes; fail before sending when a secret or
page value holds them.
- Append query entries after the path's literal query without re-encoding it.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): document request step limits and word bundle refusals for both surfaces
Document redirects, timeouts, page value redaction, HttpOnly cookie sources
and header refusals for request steps. Refusals shared by environment-build
and export_environment_bundle no longer name CLI flags, and the retained
loopback refusal no longer prints an empty file name. The skill reference
asks for read-backs after each write, shows the coverage view's source, names
package_tarball for unreleased builds and the browser path a scenario ships.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): scan every form occurrence and MIME-less scenario bodies
The build's credential scan collapsed form bodies with Object.fromEntries, so a
repeated field kept only its last occurrence: `api_key=secret&api_key=` warned
about nothing although the Evidence ships the value, and repeated values were
undercounted. Form fields are now scanned as ordered name/value pairs, as
headers and query strings already are.
The review projection of a capture_browser_scenario dropped a request body
recorded without a media type, so the scan never saw it. Review keeps such a
body's text with an empty media type; the manifest projection still reads only
bodies it can classify.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(browser): close request step edge cases from the second review
- Append query entries correctly after a path ending in "?", "&" or "#".
- Refuse 3xx expected statuses, which an unfollowed redirect can never
report, and say a redirected write may already have been applied.
- Redact a page value also as fetch sends it, without surrounding spaces
and tabs.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): document page value body costs, redirects and MCP dry runs
Document that reading a page value shrinks the bodies a capture keeps under
the default allocation limit, that redirected writes may have landed, that
the MCP dry_run still checks its output directory and which refusals name
the tool, and keep the .har hint in the HAR-as-JSON refusal for both
surfaces.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(environment): record the prompt-to-environment verification
Gates, the real-browser lanes, five environments built from prompts by an
agent on disposable VMs and evaluated with two models, and the two reviews.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* test(skill): count rollback failures from the managed skill files
The environments reference made the skill eight files, so the recovery tests now derive the counts they expect from
MANAGED_SKILL_FILES instead of fixing them at six and seven.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(adb): restore the portable Java float pattern a merge rewrote
A lint autofix during a merge unescaped the hyphens in javaFloatValuePattern, which is invalid in a v-mode character
class, so the advertised start_adb_activity schema failed to compile in every JS regex mode. The file now matches main.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* docs(browser): show the request step inside a whole scenario
Every JSON example in the browser scenario guide is a capture_browser_scenario input the catalog test parses, so the
request step example now sits in a launch scenario instead of standing alone.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): scan structured HAR form params and the request side of unattributed scenario transactions
A HAR request recorded with postData.params and no text is scanned by those parameters, each occurrence counting, and
the review projection keeps the request side of a scenario transaction whose response cannot be attributed, so the
credential warning covers what evidence.json ships in both cases.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(environment): validate build paths and read dry-run tarballs
* fix(environment): report bodies too large for the credential scan
Text bodies over the scan's 4 MiB limit, including a response decoded only as a prefix, are reported as a
credential-scan-incomplete warning by record and side, never by content, so an absent credential-named-members
warning no longer reads as a complete check. The spec and agent-environments guide also state the path validation and
dry-run tarball read that

Parse the first-line metadata object and, when bug_type is the string 309, the crash body: process identity, exception and termination facts, threads, usedImages, lossless integer registers, and documented classification rules. Other bug types including 288 stackshots return no crash result. Opened Mach-O and dSYM UUID joins remain unobserved. Related to #4297 * fix(apple): keep IPS register literals exact Use the arm64e fixture integer that matches 0x8527000193ed4944 instead of an IEEE-754-rounded decimal, and count the lossless JSON example length from the source text. * fix(apple): budget IPS parsing and keep typed presence Parse the IPS metadata and crash body through a projection of the documented members. Members the report does not interpret are syntax-checked without being materialized, and thread, frame, image and the new max_registers budgets run before each row is parsed, so a large selected file fails with a typed resource error instead of first expanding every row. Fixed allowances bound JSON nesting, unlisted key names and termination reasons. Present values whose JSON type differs from the documented one are no longer read as absence: they are listed in coverage.type_mismatches and coverage becomes partial, including wrong-type or missing threads and usedImages collections. osVersion keeps the producer dictionary or the string form. Frame roles follow physical frame depth, so the top frame of a non-faulting thread is current_instruction and inlined rows share the following frame's role. SIGKILL classes compare the canonical hex once, so 0xdeadd0cc no longer matches dead10cc. Invalid UTF-8 is refused instead of being replaced, and JSON strings are decoded by copying unescaped spans. feat(pe): inspect import and delay-load tables (#6509)
* feat(pe): inspect import and delay-load tables Add inspect_pe_imports / inspect-pe-imports to read PE32/PE32+ import and delay-load directories without executing the image. The report keeps DLL names, named and ordinal functions, ILT/IAT RVAs, and a pefile import hash of the standard import table. A missing directory is observed absence, not proof the image never imported APIs. * fix(pe): default PE import fixture options Allow peImportImage() without an argument so CLI and filesystem tests can use the KERNEL32 sample without repeating an empty options object. * test(pe): keep import path cases on the dedicated MCP contract inspect_pe_imports already rejects relative MCP paths in its own boundary test. Leave the shared absolute-path matrix to tools whose handler issue projection matches that suite's expected shape. * fix(native): index virtual-to-file mapping lookups mappedFileOffset scans every mapping twice per span, so a parser that translates one span per table entry costs sections x entries. Add fileMappingLookup, which builds an O(n log n) interval index once and answers each span in O(log n) with the same accept, reject and translation results. A differential test checks it against mappedFileOffset over randomized overlapping mappings and zero fills. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ra7LM2NyQ7DumdssxbUq5g * fix(pe): report partial import evidence and exact pefile hashes - Withhold imphash with an explicit reason whenever the standard import table is partial (unreadable names or thunks, missing tables), or when pefile 2024.8.26 would hash a different row sequence: invalid or truncated names, ordinal 0, descriptors without functions, tables its bounds or repeat/spread heuristics discard, and its 8192-thunk import symbol cap. Delay-load issues do not withhold it. - Hash ordinal imports with pefile's complete ordlookup tables and its ord<decimal> fallback instead of declining unmapped ordinals. - Report a nonterminal descriptor whose FirstThunk is zero, and a delay-load descriptor whose IAT or INT RVA is zero, as malformed_entry partial coverage instead of a complete empty inventory. - Directory evidence lists the file spans actually consumed for the descriptor array and terminator; discontiguous mappings produce separate spans and separate Evidence ranges. - Carry exhausted limits as PeImportLimitFailure.limit and derive recovery from it; the fixed 16 MiB retained-text ceiling reports a fixed allowance instead of max_file_bytes advice. - Translate RVAs through the indexed mapping lookup and yield with a cancellation check every 1024 table entries. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ra7LM2NyQ7DumdssxbUq5g * fix(pe): read only own ordinal tables for DLL names DLL names such as constructor and __proto__ pass pefile's name rule but resolved inherited object members, throwing before the ord<n> fallback. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Ra7LM2NyQ7DumdssxbUq5g * fix(native): preserve PE import facts and prove hash compatibility * test(native): verify PE import workflows and measured costs * refactor(native): narrow PE facts across the container union * docs(native): record integrated PE import validation * fix(native): bound every PE import RVA span * docs(native): measure RVA guard completed workflows * fix(pe): reconcile import coverage with retained rows * fix(pe): retain partial imports at descriptor mapping gaps --------- Co-authored-by: Matt Van Horn <455140+mvanhorn@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Co-authored-by: gensokyo-dev <342580529+gensokyo-dev@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(native): export function pseudocode to resumable directories (#6170)
* feat(decompile): write function pseudocode to a directory and return a manifest Add decompile_all and `rea decompile-all` so a caller can write one provider pseudocode file per function, or a filtered set, and receive only a small manifest. The result stays bounded when the program is larger than a local model's tool-result cap. Resume continues an export for the same target digest, provider, analysis profile, and layout. Matching files are skipped, conflicting files stay unchanged, and one function's failure does not stop the rest. Cancellation leaves files already written. Requesting dwarf layout reports that compilation-unit paths are unavailable. Simulated-provider tests cover the manifest, resume, filters, limits, cancellation, and the failure cap. MCP registration, CLI coverage, schema validity, the product catalog, check:fast, and docs:check passed. Real Ghidra was not exercised. Refs #6090 * fix(decompile): keep unknown export identity unresumable and recover torn journals Resume treated two missing target or profile digests as a match, so an export of one binary could continue into another. Resume now requires both digests, and a decompiler observation without the export's profile, or with a different target, is recorded as profile_changed. A crash during a journal append left a torn final line that made the export unresumable. Text after the last newline is now treated as uncommitted and truncated before the next append, and stale temporary files are removed. An inventory row with an empty address aborted the whole export because its failure record failed the journal schema. Such rows are now excluded and counted in the limitations. A limited resume retried the same recorded failures first and never reached new functions. Functions not yet attempted now run before retries. File path reservations come from every journal line, so an output_io record no longer releases a path. The index is rebuilt from the journal in numeric address order, and journal close and cleanup failures return a Result. The cancellation test now cancels after a file is committed and checks that file survives and is skipped on resume. Redundant snapshot-replay checks are removed, the CLI limit uses the contract constant, and --snapshot no longer claims decompile-all updates it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): refuse resume of a missing export and repair journals by byte offset A second review round found that resume against a directory that does not exist silently started a full new export and reported it as resumed. Resume now requires an existing export directory. The torn-line repair measured the committed journal from decoded text, so damaged UTF-8 could move the truncation point past the end of the file. The journal is now read as bytes and cut at the last newline byte, and an intact journal is not truncated, so a concurrent append is kept. A per-function observation for a different target is now recorded as target_changed instead of profile_changed. A failure to remove a partly created output directory is reported instead of hidden. The journal handle is closed on every path again, including an unexpected throw. The path allocator no longer gives up after 1,000 collisions and reuses a taken name. Tests now use createTestTempDirectory, assert journal lines against the journal schema, and cover resume of a missing directory, resume with an unknown analysis profile, and a target-mismatched observation. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): keep a function's first file name across failed retries Reserving every journal path stopped other addresses from taking a path, but an address looked up only its latest record. After its file went missing and a retry failed without a path, the next resume moved the function to a hash-suffixed name and orphaned the original. Each address now keeps the first path the journal gave it. A matched commit still ran the decompiler but did not count toward limit. The limit now counts every function taken on after skipping verified files. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): never follow a journal symlink and check procedure_info identity Torn-line repair truncates the journal, and the journal was opened through any symlink in the export directory, so repair could truncate a file outside it. The journal must now be a regular file and is opened without following symlinks where the platform supports it. Body ranges from procedure_info were written without checking that the observation belonged to this export or described the requested function. An observation with a different provider, profile or target, or another entry point, now leaves the body unavailable with that reason. File, journal and index writes now use FileHandle.writeFile, which writes the whole buffer instead of trusting one write call. The stale temporary sweep is removed: a matching file name does not prove this export created the file. The inverted-range test now uses one address space so it reaches the inversion check. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): bound returned caveats and keep verified checksums Ghidra names each terminal call's address in its per-function caveats, so decompile_all copied one new caveat per function into the returned Evidence and the answer grew with the program. The returned Evidence now keeps the eight most often observed distinct per-function caveats, grouped by provider and text as they are rendered, plus a count of the rest. Inventory caveats are unchanged, and other workflows are not bounded. Each function keeps the caveats of the observations it used: a written file in its header, now including procedure_info caveats, and a failed attempt in its journal and index record. A procedure_info observation for another target or profile is foreign and contributes none. A failure record for a function that was already written replaced the record holding its checksum, so after a transient read error a resume decompiled that function again. The journal now keeps the last successful write separately from the latest attempt. Resume verifies against that write and records it again once the file verifies. A caller abort that arrives while the export finishes now returns cancellation with the caller's reason instead of a success manifest, as #6143 does for other late finalization. A publish, index or close failure stays the primary error. Also make the missing-journal resume error say what to do, and add boundary tests: one runs decompile-all through the real CLI against a fake Kuna to check flag mapping, the relative output directory, filters and limit; one runs decompile_all through production MCP registration to check that the caveat bound is applied. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): keep each function's complete caveats in the index The returned Evidence keeps eight distinct per-function caveats and counts the rest, pointing readers at the export. A written function's file header truncates its caveats after 4,000 characters, and its journal record kept none, so a large function with many terminal calls could lose caveats from both the answer and the export. Every journal record, written or failed, now keeps the complete caveats of the observations its attempt used, and decompile-index.json carries them. The header stays a readable summary and, when truncated, says that the index keeps the complete list. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): report external functions instead of failing them Ghidra classifies imports as external functions with an empty body and returns null pseudocode for them, as its limitations state. decompile_all recorded each one as an invalid_pseudocode failure ("not text"), so a dynamically linked program reported every import as a decompiler failure: 34 of 116 functions in /usr/bin/xxd. procedure_info owns the external classification. When it classifies a function as external, the export now records status "external", counts it in counts.external, writes no file and requests no pseudocode. The record keeps the body fact as observed. The journal header pins the target, provider and profile, so a resume skips a recorded external function without asking the provider again; a limit below the external count still leaves nothing remaining. A null pseudocode result for a function whose classification is not external is reported as no_pseudocode. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): report finalization failures after a cancelled export When the caller's abort stopped the publish loop, decompile_all returned that cancellation before checking the index write and the journal close, which had already run. A failure to finalize the export was hidden, so the caller could not tell the saved index or journal was incomplete. Publish failures stay primary, then index and close failures. A cancellation counts as the caller's only when the caller's signal is aborted, and is then reported after a successful finalization with the caller's own reason. A provider's own cancellation, without a caller abort, stays a publish failure like any other. Tests cover an index failure and a close failure after the caller stops the loop, a stopped loop with a successful finalization keeping the caller's reason, and a provider cancellation staying primary over an index failure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): remove a created output directory that cannot be secured createPrivateDirectory ran mkdir and chmod as one step. When mkdir succeeded and chmod failed, it returned an error before #create reached its cleanup, leaving an empty directory behind. A fresh export then refused the existing directory, and a resume refused it for having no journal, so the caller had to remove it by hand. mkdir and chmod are now separate. A mkdir failure created nothing, so nothing is removed. A chmod failure after this call created the directory removes it with a non-recursive rmdir: it is still empty, so a path another process filled or replaced meanwhile is refused rather than deleted, and that refusal is reported. A filesystem boundary test fails chmod for the new root and checks the directory is gone and a retry succeeds. A module test confirms that a function written earlier and now classified as external still reports a changed file at its path as output_exists. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * refactor(process): share the socket lease with owners other than Hopper The socket lease that keeps two REA processes from opening the same Hopper document lived only in HopperLease, with Hopper error messages built in. A decompile export needs the same guarantee for its output directory. OwnedLease now holds the lease mechanism unchanged: a listening local socket that the operating system ends with its process, owner identity answered by the live holder, and recovery of a stale socket serialized through a recovery directory. Callers map a tagged LeaseFailure to their own error. HopperLease keeps its exports and maps each failure to the same HopperStartError message as before. On Windows the lease is a named pipe, which needs no stale recovery. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * fix(decompile): hold the output directory per run and stop on repeated write failures Two runs could resume the same output directory at once. Each read the journal once, and the index each wrote reflected only its own view, so the last writer could drop the other run's records. A run's torn-line repair could also truncate the other run's append. DecompileExport now holds a lease on the output directory, named by its device and inode, from before the journal is read (or, for a new export, from just after the directory is created and before its journal exists) until the journal is closed. A second run is refused as a retryable capacity constraint that reports the holder's process ID. The lease ends with its process, so a crashed run leaves no lock to clear. The lease is released on every open failure, and a failed release is reported. An export also kept decompiling every remaining function when its files had stopped being writable mid-run, for example on a full disk, failing each one with output_io. After five consecutive functions whose files could not be written or read, the export now stops with an output error that carries the counts and the last failures. A verified file or any other outcome ends a run of failures. Committed files and records stay, the index is still written, and a later resume continues. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01AoJZDPcrgmMsCqLG4LfiFb * docs(native): record directory export verification Record matched real Ghidra outputs, bounded caveat and cleanup regressions, actual catalog-inclusive context estimates, runtime measurements and coverage limits for the pinned integration. * fix(native): bound export summaries and reserve portable paths Use one case-folded reservation owner for allocation and resumed journals. feat(environment): compare an environment with probe captures of its application (#5699)
* chore: restack environment fidelity onto main Keep probe comparison, paging, and tied-create behavior on main after #5600. Capture parsing keeps field-path errors and records whether a probe kept request and response bodies. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(environment): keep served collection order with the fidelity checks The tied-create collection order lives with the checks that match encoded parents. The write simulation reads field checks from that attribution, and taint uses the same segment match. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(environment): translate an object's keys only when it is keyed by learned ids Differ.object mapped every key through the probe's id map, so a field named like a learned id was compared with another field, and a real rename could pass as a mapped key. Keys now translate only for an object keyed by learned ids as learning reads one: a key both sides share needs every key evidently an id, and otherwise each entry is an entity or each key evidently an id. Any other object compares field by field. feat(python): inspect CPython pyc headers and marshal code objects (#4826)
* feat(python): inspect CPython pyc headers and marshal code objects Add inspect_python_pyc / inspect-python-pyc to read one explicit local CPython 3.7–3.13 .pyc without executing bytecode or recovering source. * chore(python): drop unused PythonPycHeader export Knip reported the type as unused after inspect_python_pyc landed. * fix(python): bound pyc expansion and decode marshal like CPython - Count a nested code object reached through TYPE_REF once per copy the report carries, against max_objects and max_file_bytes, before counting or validating the tree - Charge long digits to max_string_bytes, reject out-of-range and unnormalized digits, build the value in one pass, and report integers above 256 bits by bit length only - Decode TYPE_UNICODE with surrogatepass semantics and reject other ill-formed UTF-8 - Map only 3.11 magics 3494-3495 to the py311 layout - Report non-finite float and complex parts as inf, -inf or nan - Allow an empty co_filename - Require bytes for co_linetable and co_exceptiontable - Bind cleanup-failure errors to their retained descriptor leases * fix(python): list pyc code objects once instead of a recursive tree Report each distinct code object once in code_objects, top-level first, with nested_code as indexes. A child shared through TYPE_REF is no longer copied per reference, and the MCP output schema is no longer recursive. Names repeated through TYPE_REF still count against max_file_bytes for each copy the report carries. * fix(python): bound shared pyc constants and reject malformed tables - Cache byte-string digests so a buffer shared through TYPE_REF is hashed once instead of on every reference. - Charge every reported co_consts entry, including tables shared through TYPE_REF, against max_objects before summaries are built. - Resolve the inspect-python-pyc path with absoluteCallerPath so link/../file.pyc reads the file the filesystem selects. - Reject TYPE_NULL inside marshal sequences, as CPython does. - Reject a co_localspluskinds length that does not match co_localsplusnames in the parser and the report schema. * fix(python): bound shared pyc names and read CPython marshal graphs Charge each reported code-constant name, keep integer bit lengths on the decoded value, and list code objects nested inside constant containers. Accept self-referential lists and dicts, marshal version 0 text floats, empty code names, the original string byte count, and Python set and dict lengths. Pass the CLI cancellation signal into command cleanup. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): bound pyc key expansion and shared nested code Charge set and dictionary keys before a shared tuple doubles them, list each nested code object once per owner, and accept code objects as CPython keys. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): correct pyc equality, counts, and nested walks Summarize code objects only after the marshal graph is complete, and collect nested code with an iterative walk that shares wrapper results instead of copying every descendant list. Keep tuple boundaries and the original string bytes in equality keys, and reject negative CPython counts. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): bound shared pyc names and keep the first dict key Charge every copied name-table entry against the object budget before building the report array, including empty strings that add no bytes. When dictionary keys compare equal, keep the first key object and replace only its value, matching CPython. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): walk each pyc dictionary child list once Keep a container's child array on the nested-code frame so a wide dictionary is not copied on every step of the synchronous marshal walk. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): reuse stored pyc dictionary children when combining The nested walk keeps each container's child list on its frame. Combining nested code rebuilt that list, and the 8,000-key regression still accepted the old per-key copy. Use the stored list, and require that dictionary to finish well under the copy's runtime while still reporting a nested code object. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(python): keep distinct pyc code objects and reject corrupt ones Encode each name table's length and entry boundaries in the equality key so a different name list cannot share a memo key. Walk tuple and frozenset keys on an explicit stack so a long TYPE_REF chain does not overflow. Treat code objects CPython rejects for an odd co_code or an undersized local table as malformed instead of complete coverage. feat(pe): inspect Authenticode certificate tables (#4830)
* feat(pe): inspect Authenticode certificate tables Add inspect_pe_certificates for IMAGE_DIRECTORY_ENTRY_SECURITY WIN_CERTIFICATE entries and structurally decoded PKCS#7 signer and X.509 identity fields. The workflow reads a stable PE image without executing it or verifying signatures, chains, timestamps, or Authenticode digest coverage. * fix(pe): bound and validate certificate DER decoding - Cap decoded DER values with a shared node budget so sibling fan-out cannot exhaust memory before the PKCS#7 check - Require SignedData version, encapContentInfo and a final signerInfos SET in RFC 5652 order, and a signature OCTET STRING in each SignerInfo - Decode OBJECT IDENTIFIER arcs as unbounded base-128 values, including a multi-byte first combined arc - Decode UniversalString names as UTF-32BE and reject invalid values - Share PE header admission with the resource layout so a section table that does not fit SizeOfHeaders is rejected * docs: list PE certificates in the translated READMEs * fix(pe): cap OBJECT IDENTIFIER length and arc size A crafted type-2 certificate with a 262,144-byte contentType OID stalled decodeOid for about 20 seconds, because one arc kept growing a BigInt before the signedData check ran. decodeOid now rejects an OID longer than 256 bytes and an arc longer than 32 bytes before decoding it. Certificate OIDs, including 2.25 UUID arcs, fit under both caps. * fix(pe): reject truncated certificate tables and PKCS#7 SignedData now requires one SignerInfo with a non-empty signature and a complete issuerAndSerialNumber. Certificate names share a 64 KiB decoded-byte budget and are copied once. A security directory that ends in a short WIN_CERTIFICATE header fails instead of reporting a complete table. The certificate CLI forwards the caller abort signal into cleanup. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * chore(ci): keep fork workflow files unchanged The certificate restack follows current main. Workflow files stay at the fork tip so this branch update does not rewrite .github/workflows. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(pe): charge serial and validity text to the decoded budget Certificate and signer serial numbers and validity times now count against the shared decoded-text budget before they are converted, so a crafted certificate cannot push megabytes of text into the hashed evidence. The budget error now names certificate text rather than only names. Restore the CI workflow to match main: the CI_TIMING_TIER input, the tier-named timing artifacts and their publication conditions, the Windows typecheck, and the path and snapshot suites in the curated Windows lane. * fix(pe): require certificate fields and preserve signer key ids Reject X.509 records that omit subjectPublicKeyInfo or signatureValue, return subjectKeyIdentifier bytes as bounded hex, and advertise an absolute path in the PE certificate input schema. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(pe): reject extra PKCS#7 wrappers and invalid UTF-8 names ContentInfo and its signedData wrapper no longer ignore trailing values, and directory strings must round-trip as UTF-8 instead of becoming U+FFFD. feat(native): inspect PE and ELF export tables without an engine (#6278)
* feat(native): read PE and ELF export tables Add a host-independent export-table reader on the shared native container layer. PE images report each used export-address-table slot with its ordinal, one row per name, its address or forwarder text, and the export directory identity; the PE image reader now exposes its data directories. ELF images report defined default/protected global, weak and unique .dynsym symbols with type, binding and .gnu.version_d version (hidden versions kept distinct, unreadable version tables "unknown"). Unreadable entries are counted in issues and make coverage partial; an ELF without section headers is unsupported. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(native): inspect native export tables through CLI and MCP Expose the reader as inspect_native_exports / inspect-native-exports: one stable, digest-bound read of an explicit file with a caller-selected input budget, typed failures for malformed, unsupported, oversized and cancelled reads, and observed Evidence bound to the file path and SHA-256. Mach-O inputs point to inspect_macho. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * docs(native): describe portable PE and ELF export inventories Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(native): bound export inventories and read header-backed PE tables Address review of the export-table reader: - Charge every retained row and its name, forwarder and version text against shared 262144-row and 16 MiB allowances before storing it, so repeated long names or PE aliases cannot exhaust memory. - Map PE RVAs through the headers as well as sections; the PE image reader now exposes its SizeOfHeaders mapping. - Keep ELF exports with version "unknown" when .gnu.version lies outside the file, and report an empty version-definition name as unresolved. - Reject a .dynsym without its mandatory null entry as malformed. - Decode the ELF section directory once. - Correct the docs on which gaps drop rows and which keep them. feat(elf): inspect PT_NOTE and SHT_NOTE tables (#4837)
Inspect selected ELF32/ELF64 PT_NOTE and SHT_NOTE declarations without executing the artifact, retaining independent table identities, source ranges, descriptor digests, GNU build-id/ABI fields and explicit coverage limitations. Integrate mvanhorn's implementation and hardening with current main while preserving byte-entropy registration and the Windows curated regression suite. The maintainer follow-up uses ordinary merges/pushes, not history rewriting. Executed validation: 96 focused/shared/docs tests, complete static/docs checks, eleven real CLI/MCP pairs including GCC ELF32 and Clang big-endian PowerPC64, and two actual Codex task traces checked against their Evidence. Full costs, grader correction and verification limits are recorded in PR #4837. Refs #6262. |

feat(diagnostics): report a byte entropy profile for one local file (#2331)
* feat(diagnostics): report a byte entropy profile for one local file The diff adds the MCP tool inspect_byte_entropy and the CLI command inspect-byte-entropy, both implemented by ByteEntropyService. One absolute regular file is read offline into observed Evidence: file-wide SHA-256 and Shannon entropy, then fixed blocks and adjacent runs for an optional window, using a power-of-two block size from 256 to 65536 (default 4096), with high at 7.2 or above and low at 1.0 or below. A window past EOF, a missing path, or a non-file is an input error; a size or identity change during the read is an artifact-changed error; empty input reports entropy 0; cancellation is honored before and during the read. Summary detail retains the complete series and returns file entropy, counts, and the ten longest runs for inspect_analysis_view, while the registered effect remains read-only Evidence and the diagnostics docs record the operation and its errors. * fix(diagnostics): flag zero-size files as not shown empty Generated files such as Linux /proc entries report size 0 while holding content, so inspect_byte_entropy read nothing and returned an empty-looking report. A file that reports size 0 now carries a limitation that the result does not show the file is empty. The result stays a success because the tool reads the declared size, which the file-stability checks depend on. * fix(mcp): reject unsupported diagnostic summaries before inspection * fix(ci): repair integrated checks and Hopper test baseline * test(entropy): use shared MCP schema verification after merge * fix(catalog): list inspect_byte_entropy under its own provider Adding inspect_byte_entropy to BINARY_DIAGNOSTICS_TOOL_CONTRACTS put it under pwntools-elf in the generated product catalog, because the pwntools group took every binary diagnostics tool except inspect_pe_resources. The service reports provider byte-entropy. Add a BYTE_ENTROPY_PROVIDER identity beside PE_RESOURCES_PROVIDER, use it in ByteEntropyService, give it its own catalog group, and name the pwntools tools (inspect_binary_layout, inspect_recorded_crash) explicitly so a new diagnostics tool is not attributed to pwntools by default. The catalog test pins both groups. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01KFTE4BHbGYzgf8Uhzcppdh * fix(cli): resolve the byte-entropy path with absoluteCallerPath main replaced the node:path resolve import in binaryDiagnosticsCommands.ts with absoluteCallerPath (#4067), so the byte-entropy command's resolve(args.path) no longer type-checks once the PR is merged with main. Use absoluteCallerPath like the other commands, and add src/filesystem/callerPath.ts matching main so the branch builds on its own. * fix(diagnostics): retain entropy read cleanup ownership * docs(diagnostics): explain entropy output capacity * fix(diagnostics): preserve entropy cancellation outcomes * fix(diagnostics): close the entropy input and warn on large reports Public inspect_byte_entropy input now uses publicInputStrictObject before detail is added, so unknown keys stay rejected on the advertised schema. The tool description warns that complete output can become very large and points callers to a shorter length or a larger block_size. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(diagnostics): keep byte-entropy registration mergeable with main Register inspect_byte_entropy beside layout inspection and reject unretained summaries before the file read, without editing workflows. Co-authored-by: morluto <morluto@users.noreply.github.com> * fix(diagnostics): register byte entropy with the shared tool options Use toolRegistrationOptions so the handler typechecks on this branch and on main, and still refuse unretained summaries before the file read. feat(il2cpp): inventory Unity IL2CPP global-metadata images, types and methods (#3807)
* feat(il2cpp): inventory IL2CPP global-metadata images, types and methods Add inspect_il2cpp_metadata (CLI inspect-il2cpp-metadata), a read-only in-process decoder for unencrypted Unity global-metadata.dat version 39. It reports header sections, serialized index widths, images, type definitions (nesting from the nestedTypes section) and method names. Unrecognized magic and other versions are unsupported; damaged headers, overlapping sections, inconsistent record sizes, out-of-range indices and invalid strings fail with a reason code and no partial success. MCP detail summary retains the complete Evidence and pages rows through inspect_analysis_view kind il2cpp-metadata. Adds an opt-in verify:il2cpp:metadata -- --metadata PATH check. * feat(il2cpp): deliver metadata summaries by default over MCP A 112,232-method file produced a 10.5 MB complete response, above the 10 MiB stdio budget. Default MCP delivery is now the retained summary; detail complete stays available, and the one-shot CLI requests it. * fix(il2cpp): reject shifted strings, nesting cycles and method owner drift Review fuzzing showed that moving the strings section offset by one byte silently renamed every image, type and method. Name indices must now start a string, which also bounds total decoding by the section size. Nesting cycles and methods whose declaring type disagrees with the owning type range are rejected instead of returned. Adds service, shutdown and index-width coverage, and moves environment-specific measurements out of the public guide and tool description. * feat(il2cpp): decode global-metadata versions 29 and 31 Unity 2022.3 writes version 29 or 31 metadata: a 256-byte header of (offset, size) pairs, fixed 4-byte indices, type records with elementTypeIndex, and method records that gained returnParameterToken in version 31. Record counts come from section sizes and must be whole. Sections report a null count for these versions and index widths report fixed-width-version. Image, type and method rows keep the same shape, and the string, nesting and method-ownership checks apply to every version. * fix(il2cpp): bound report size before serializing and tighten coverage Rows share decoded names, so a 130 KB file could expand into gigabytes of JSON before the 64 MiB budget check, ending in an internal RangeError. The provider now refuses from a lower bound on the serialized rows first. The decoder also rejects non-empty sections inside the header, methods outside their declaring type's range and overlapping image type ranges, and keeps a leading byte order mark in names. Layouts now carry one indexing mode instead of two coupled flags, and the tool description explains nested_type_start. * fix(il2cpp): refuse oversized metadata before decoding rows Address review findings on the IL2CPP metadata inventory: - check a lower bound from header row counts before any row object is allocated, so a large rejected file no longer builds every row first; - validate sealed parent Evidence and count its rows once per report instead of on every inspect_analysis_view page; - decode version 39 fixtures with 2- and 4-byte type-definition, generic-container and parameter indices. * docs(il2cpp): attach the decoder comment to readIl2cppMetadata * fix(il2cpp): deliver complete rows by default like the other inspection tools inspect_il2cpp_metadata defaulted to detail summary, the only inspection tool to do so. Omitted detail now returns every row inline, as inspect_artifact, decode_interface_builder and the capture tools do; summary stays one argument away and the guide, CLI reference and skill reference say to select it first for large games, whose complete MCP delivery is refused at the stdio budget with retained Evidence. * test(il2cpp): cover narrow-width -1 sentinels and fix the skill's default An empty image stores its type start as the all-ones value of a one- or two-byte index; the decoder reads it as -1, but no fixture exercised it, so removing either conversion passed the suite. The fixture can now append an empty image, and both widths decode it. The skill still described a summary default; it now says to select summary first, as the guide does. * docs(il2cpp): request summary explicitly in the summary example * chore(il2cpp): hash the verifier metadata through owned file resources * fix(il2cpp): count escaped name length without building the escaped string * fix(il2cpp): keep the verifier's check failure and small-table last page * feat(domain): count JSON string length without building the escaped string * fix(il2cpp): keep descriptor cleanup owners and share the JSON length count * test(domain): give the backslash case real backslashes * fix(il2cpp): select the CLI path and finish the command like the other tools Follow main's absoluteCallerPath (#4067) and pass the command signal to finishAnalysisCommand. * fix(il2cpp): select the verifier input path like the CLI Use absoluteCallerPath (#4067) so a path with a symlink followed by .. names the same file the CLI and MCP inspect. * feat(il2cpp): add compact composable metadata queries Retain source-indexed Evidence for filtered batch and field queries. Bound representation growth before serialization, yield decoding for cancellation, and share CLI Evidence publication with desktop inspection. Verify public Unity metadata against independent byte and managed-DLL oracles and exercise actual stdio SDK workflows. * fix(il2cpp): retain the validated metadata header magic * test(il2cpp): remove obsolete execution wording exception * fix(artifacts): preserve export selection and completed source facts --------- Co-authored-by: gensokyo-dev <342580529+gensokyo-dev@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(native): search analyzed memory for masked byte patterns (#2341)
* feat(native): search analyzed memory for masked byte patterns The diff adds search_bytes to the CLI, the shared MCP contract, Ghidra inventory, and the headless bridge, and advertises the same operation on Hopper as unavailable until that provider is verified. Patterns are hexadecimal byte pairs with optional ?? wildcards and an optional equal-length bit mask; the TypeScript boundary and the bridge both require a nonempty pattern, equal lengths, and at least one constrained bit. Ghidra walks initialized blocks in address order within inclusive bounds, keeps overlapping matches inside a single block, and returns each hit with its segment, unique source file offset, and containing procedure, continuing through a cursor bound to the target, profile, pattern, mask, and bounds. Each page reports the inclusive ranges examined and the skipped uninitialized blocks; cancellation returns a typed error and discards the active Ghidra database. address_to_file_offset now uses the same unique-offset helper, which rejects a mapping that is missing, ambiguous, or larger than a safe integer. * fix(native): limit unbounded byte search to loaded memory Without start or end, search_bytes walked every Ghidra block, including non-loaded file parts such as .symtab and overlay blocks, which the docs call out of scope. Unbounded searches now skip those blocks and list them in searched.skipped_not_loaded; explicit bounds in their address space still search them. Document that a match must end at or before end. * fix(native): preserve implicit address spaces in range consumers * fix(native): reject present malformed byte search state --------- Co-authored-by: Matt Van Horn <455140+mvanhorn@users.noreply.github.com> Co-authored-by: morluto <76467478+morluto@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(flutter): identify Dart snapshot builds and inspect AOT payloads by pure APK parsing (#1582)
* feat(flutter): identify Dart snapshot builds by pure APK parsing Add a flutter-provider family with one operation, identify_flutter_build, that reads an APK's lib/<abi>/libapp.so and libflutter.so through the hardened ZIP reader and reports build facts as observations: - The Dart VM snapshot hash, read 20 bytes after every snapshot magic (f5f5dcdc). The vm and isolate sections are cross-checked: agreeing sections collapse to one snapshot_hash, disagreeing sections keep every candidate with snapshot_hash null and partial coverage. - Per-ABI library digests and byte sizes, plus the engine library's GNU build-id note and any labeled 'Dart VM version' or Android clang/LLVM toolchain strings, verbatim; release builds without a version string report null rather than a guess. - The APK is digested before parsing so Evidence binds the observation to the exact input, and a target with no libapp.so reports not-detected with complete coverage. The scanner is streaming with explicit pending-magic and rescan bookkeeping, so chunk boundaries cannot double-count or drop sections, and magic-free streams never accumulate. No engine, no external lookups: the hash-to-SDK mapping stays with external datasets by design. Verified against Flutter Gallery 2.9.2 (112 MB, three ABIs): every ABI reports the same agreeing hash 65817c30a78bb44c3dc3771876b6010a from two sections, per-ABI build-ids, and the clang toolchain line; a plain aapt2-built APK reports not-detected with complete coverage. Scanner goldens come from the same libraries. READMEs carry the new 'Flutter apps' row in every supported language. * feat(flutter): inspect Dart AOT snapshots through the ELF symbol table Add inspect_dart_aot to the flutter family: for one ABI's libapp.so it locates the four _kDart*Snapshot* symbols through the ELF dynamic symbol table (ELF32 and ELF64 little-endian, bounds-checked reads; a payload without exported symbols is refused), reports each section's offset and size, validates data-section headers (magic, kind, length; instructions sections honestly report nulls for the fields their layout does not carry), and projects a bounded string pool from the isolate data section: distinct package: source URIs (the app's dependency inventory), dart: SDK URIs, and identifier-shaped tokens, each with counts, bounds, and partial coverage when truncated. The string pool is labeled as a byte-pattern projection, not deserialized cluster semantics: typed class and function recovery remains an SDK-specific parser, which the snapshot hash now unlocks. The ABI is caller-selected with a deterministic default (arm64-v8a, x86_64, then first available). Verified against Flutter Gallery 2.9.2: all four symbols on both ELF64 (arm64-v8a) and ELF32 (armeabi-v7a) images, header validation, hash agreement with identify_flutter_build, and a 756 package: / 201 dart: URI pool from the isolate data section; goldens in DartElf.test.ts come from the same libraries. * fix(flutter): own snapshots, bound image reads, and preserve cancellation Mirror the ownership bar the maintainers applied across the merged JEB, ADB, and Apktool PRs: - Copy the admitted APK into a provider-owned, read-only snapshot (EXCL create, chmod 0400) before digesting and parsing; every later read uses the snapshot, so a concurrently modified original cannot mix into one observation. The result reports the snapshot's byte size and digest. - Retain failed snapshot-root cleanup in a provider set and retry it on close(), throwing an aggregate error when a root is still owned; root removal is injectable so the retention is testable. - Allocate the AOT image buffer at exactly the declared library size before reading (bounded before allocation, not concat-after-stream), keep the 256 MiB ceiling, and check cancellation between digest and stream chunks through a captured abort reason. - Accept APK paths containing spaces (covered by a fixture test) and escape the ABI pattern's dash for v-mode regex compatibility. Also add tests for cleanup retention with close retry and for cancellation before any snapshot root is created. * docs(flutter): cover the Italian README with the Flutter row The Italian translation landed between the merged feature PRs; its table now carries every merged row plus this one, keeping its documentation-link set identical to README.md. * fix(flutter): make the ABI pattern portable for v-mode validators Use a hex-escaped hyphen in the ABI character class, matching the form the ADB portability fix uses, so clients compiling advertised schemas in unicodeSets mode accept the inspect_dart_aot input schema. * refactor(flutter): reuse shared harnesses and deduplicate the vertical The duplicate-detection gate (jscpd, 2.5% threshold) tipped to 2.51% with the flutter files added. Reuse the existing machinery instead of repeating it: - FlutterBuildAnalysisService delegates to executeProviderOperation, the shared admission/Evidence composition, instead of restating its body. - The CLI registers both commands from one table-driven spec. - Boundary tests use the shared serveCli and assertAdvertisedMcpContracts harnesses rather than hand-rolled equivalents. - The provider test consolidates the four payload-shape cases into one table-driven case; the service test uses one admission table and distinct phrasings. Duplicate lines fall from 2.51% to 2.48%, back under the gate. * fix(flutter): address review findings from real-app verification CassieFox23 verified the PR against three real F-Droid Flutter apps and a control app, and found five gaps. All are fixed and re-verified against cone (info.tangential.cone), one of the tested apps: - Build-id: the scanner now reads the descriptor length from the note header instead of assuming 20 bytes, so 8-byte ids from older toolchains parse; the schema accepts 8-128 hex characters. Verified against cone's readelf-reported ids on all three ABIs. - Compiler line: the toolchain capture bound rises from 200 to 500 characters, keeping cone's 262-character clang line verbatim. - Zero-byte libapp.so: the extraction target is created before streaming, so an empty entry yields a clean unsupported_target refusal for inspect_dart_aot and elf_header_valid: false with partial coverage for identify_flutter_build, instead of a raw ENOENT with code UNKNOWN. - Truncated library: identify_flutter_build marks fewer than two snapshot sections as partial coverage with a limitation naming the count, and a missing ELF magic gets its own limitation. - Docs: the default ABI preference now matches the code exactly (arm64-v8a, x86_64, x86, armeabi-v7a, then the rest alphabetically). Also: every test that read the author's /tmp/opencode goldens now builds a self-contained synthetic ELF64 image with dynsym, four snapshot symbols, two snapshot sections, and a string pool, so the suite runs anywhere; the verify lane now requires a present hex build-id per ABI instead of accepting null. * fix(flutter): address the Codex review findings Eight findings, all applied: - P1: SnapshotHashScanner keeps candidates in a Set (no quadratic Array.includes) with a 64-distinct-hash cap, so a hostile payload of magic+hash records cannot stall the scan or bloat the response. - P1: projectStringPool stops admitting new distinct entries once each category reaches twice its projection bound and reports collectionCapped; allocation and sorting now track the response, not the payload. - P2: ZIP reader rejections during entry iteration or entry streaming map into the typed error algebra (cancellation vs input refusal) instead of escaping as unhandled exceptions in both operations. - P2: magic_valid now marks coverage only for the *Data symbols; a complete four-symbol image with valid data magics reports complete coverage (the instruction symbols intentionally lack the magic). - P2: the MCP server closes the Flutter provider during shutdown, so a retained snapshot root is retried and reported, not leaked. - P2: LabeledStringScanner commits matches only when a printable run is delimiter-terminated; the carry grows to 600 bytes so a 500-character toolchain line survives any chunk boundary untruncated. - P2: both Flutter tool effects declare writesFilesystem: true; the owned APK snapshot and extracted libapp.so are temporary writes. - P2: the verify lane asserts every ABI agrees on exactly one snapshot hash instead of discarding the computed set. * fix(flutter): address the second Codex review round Nine findings on the first-round fixes: - P1: identify_flutter_build enforces a cumulative extraction budget (768 MiB) across every library entry, not just per library, so an APK with many ABIs cannot stream an unbounded total. - P1: a single NUL-free printable run stops materializing at 1024 bytes and marks the pool capped, so an adversarial one-run section cannot allocate unbounded strings. - P1: ELF cString bounds the NUL-terminator scan to the name maximum plus one, so malformed symbol tables cannot scan the whole image per entry. - P2: mapReaderFailure distinguishes ArtifactReaderFailure texts — budget/limit rejections map to resource constraints, integrity failures (CRC/overlap/signature) to their own input refusal — instead of collapsing all reader failures into one message. - P2: the labeled-string carry is cleared when a delimiter commits a run, so consecutive toolchain lines are never concatenated. - P2: string-pool counts are renamed *_count_at_least and documented as lower bounds, because capped collection discards values beyond twice the projection bound. - P2: inspect_dart_aot marks hash disagreements, non-pair source counts, and candidate-cap saturation as partial coverage. - P2: only valid lowercase-hex hash records count as snapshot sources; complete magic records with non-hex fields do not inflate agreement. - P2: the per-entry size refusal in inspect_dart_aot moves after ABI selection, so an oversized unselected ABI no longer refuses a small request. * fix(flutter): address the third Codex review round Five findings: - P2: the owned snapshot revalidates the source after the copy (size, mtime, inode), so an in-place replacement or swap mid-copy refuses the observation instead of publishing mixed bytes. - P2: a failed ZipArtifactReader close retains the snapshot root for close() retry instead of silently swallowing the descriptor leak, in both operations. - P2: snapshot headers are parsed within their symbol bounds and a symbol smaller than the 16-byte header reports magic_valid false, so trailing-image bytes can no longer fake a valid data section. - P2: the verify lane counts provider.close() cleanup failures as lane failures instead of certifying a run with retained roots. - P2: LabeledStringScanner reports toolchain_capped when further distinct matching lines are observed past the 4-line projection; identify marks such results partial with a naming limitation. * fix(flutter): address rounds three and four of the Codex review Round three (one missed finding) plus round four (five findings): - P2: the GNU build-id note descriptor size is decoded from all four bytes of the little-endian field, rejecting nonzero high bytes instead of masking them to 16 bits. - P1: the Flutter MCP handlers route through createContractToolHandler and the session's analysisAdmission, so close_binary and snapshot operations drain in-flight Flutter calls instead of racing them. - P2: the owned-snapshot copy is a streamed, abort-checked write (no copyFile), so cancellation stops the write promptly while the source-identity revalidation (size, mtime, inode) still guards against mid-copy replacement. - P2: identify marks any snapshot_hash_sources value other than exactly two as partial, matching the inspection path's pair requirement. - P2: the verify lane refuses to run without --apk (exit 2) instead of printing a false-green pass, and the engine check requires every libapp-carrying ABI to have a present libflutter with a valid hex build-id rather than filtering missing engines away vacuously. * fix(flutter): address the fifth Codex review round Six findings plus the upstream duplication baseline: - P2: the flutter-provider kind reports available in the capability inventory, so binary_session no longer lists always-registered Flutter tools as provider_missing. - P2: printable runs that exceed the 1024-byte cap are discarded at their delimiter instead of emitting their truncated prefix as a fabricated observation. - P2: ELF symbols must fit inside the file-backed portion of their PT_LOAD segment (p_filesz), so addresses in gaps or BSS are refused instead of accepting unrelated bytes. - P2: the build-id carry spans the complete 80-byte maximum note (16-byte header + 64-byte descriptor) so chunk-boundary splits cannot drop the first byte. - P2: the labeled-string carry is sized for the toolchain pattern's true 605-byte maximum, not the previous 600. - P2: the AOT completeness predicate requires exactly two sources and one candidate unconditionally, so zero-source images with valid data magics report partial instead of complete. Also: the shared ELF fixture builder and snapshot-section helper moved to a dedicated FlutterTestFixtures module, eliminating cross-file test duplication; jscpd now passes at 2.50% while main sits at 2.52%. * fix(flutter): address the sixth Codex review round Five findings: - P2: snapshot-hash scanning is bounded to the exported data symbols' byte ranges, so decoy or stale magic/hash sequences elsewhere in the image cannot inflate source counts or contribute candidates. - P2: labeled-string runs longer than the carry bound are rejected instead of truncated, preventing a regex prefix from being published as a verbatim source string. - P2: the AOT image reread checks cancellation between file reads and before the synchronous parsing stage, so a cancelled caller cannot receive a success from a completed 256 MiB read. - P2: the verify lane requires exactly two snapshot sources per ABI, matching the provider's pair requirement, instead of accepting any count >= 2. - P2: ELF section and program header entry sizes are validated against the class-defined minimum widths before walking either table, so undersized entries cannot cause field reads to cross into neighboring bytes. * fix(flutter): address the seventh Codex review round Six findings: - P2: data-symbol ranges are deduplicated by offset and size, so aliased symbols mapping to the same bytes are scanned once and the result marks partial coverage with a limitation naming the shared range. - P2: openEntrySafely forwards return/throw to the underlying Readable's iterator, so an early for-await exit closes the ZIP entry stream and releases its producer instead of leaking a backpressured pipe. - P2: inspect_dart_aot now reports snapshot_hash_candidates and snapshot_hash_sources alongside snapshot_hash, so a null hash from conflicting evidence is distinguishable from missing hash data. - P2: overlong printable runs only set toolchain_capped when they begin with a recognized label prefix (Dart VM version: or Android (); other long strings such as license text are skipped without marking partial. - P2: readElfSymbol falls back to PT_DYNAMIC/DT_SYMTAB when section headers are absent (e_shnum 0, ET_DYN), so stripped Flutter libraries with exported snapshot symbols are no longer refused; the dynamic table is bounded by DT_STRSZ, DT_SYMENT, and the image end. - P2: the verify lane exercises inspect_dart_aot for every ABI carrying libapp.so, not just the preferred default. * fix(flutter): address the eighth Codex review round Five findings: - P2: each data-symbol range gets a fresh SnapshotHashScanner so the carry from one noncontiguous slice cannot fabricate a record spanning into the next; results are aggregated after scanning. - P2: dynsym name lookups are bounded to the linked string table — st_name offsets outside the table and terminators beyond it are rejected instead of reading unrelated payload bytes as symbol names, in both the section-header and PT_DYNAMIC paths. - P2: identify_flutter_build routes its reader.entries and reader.open calls through the same collectEntriesSafely and openEntrySafely wrappers as inspect_dart_aot, so malformed ZIPs surface as input refusals instead of AnalysisProtocolError. - P2: mapReaderFailure recognizes ArtifactReaderFailure texts carrying a cancelled reason, mapping them to AnalysisCancelledError instead of AnalysisInputError. - P2: the cumulative extraction cap is enforced inside the chunk loop, not after each library completes, so refusal happens before the remaining bytes are streamed and hashed. * fix(flutter): harden streaming, sizes, and cancellation after self-review Four issues found in a systematic self-audit across all bug classes from eight Codex rounds: - createReadStream in both the digest function and the owned-snapshot copy now receives the AbortSignal directly, so cancellation aborts the filesystem read at the source instead of waiting for the next chunk to arrive on a slow filesystem. - The owned snapshot enforces a 2 GiB APK-level size cap before any copy I/O, so a path pointing at an enormous file is refused before disk usage grows. - identify_flutter_build preflights the sum of declared entry sizes against the 768 MiB cumulative budget, refusing before any ZIP extraction when the declared total already exceeds it. - The LabeledStringScanner triple result() call is collapsed to a single invocation (the previous code called result() three times in the emission, relying on end() being idempotent). No behavior change for valid inputs; all 36 tests, check:fast, and the cone verify lane pass unchanged. * fix(flutter): require structurally parseable ELF headers for complete coverage CassieFox23's third corrupt-header case: an ELF with valid magic but zeroed section/program header offsets passes the 4-byte magic check and the byte scanner still finds hash patterns in the data sections, so identify_flutter_build reports complete coverage for a structurally broken file. The elf_header_valid check now also verifies beyond the magic: e_type must be a known value (ET_REL/ET_EXEC/ET_DYN), at least one of e_shoff/e_phoff must be non-zero, and at least one of e_shnum/e_phnum must be non-zero. A file with valid magic but zeroed structure reports partial coverage with the existing ELF-magic limitation. * fix(flutter): validate ELF and snapshot coverage Share bounded ELF header parsing between identification and inspection. Accumulate headers across ZIP chunks and validate table entry widths and extents before claiming complete identification coverage. Bind AOT hashes to the exported VM and isolate headers, validate stored snapshot lengths including the magic bytes, and preserve partial evidence for missing, malformed, aliased, or overlapping data headers. Preserve native stream cancellations and APK resource constraints across both operations. Bound snapshot copies while streaming and retain useful input-failure diagnostics and lower-bound count wording. Validation: 72 focused tests; check:fast; check including formatting; docs:check; test discovery; jscpd; real cone APK and non-Flutter control on Linux. Verified CLI/MCP parity for valid and corrupted ELF headers and AOT inspection across three ABIs. Native Windows and macOS were not run. * fix(flutter): unify artifact ownership and bound ELF evidence * fix(flutter): preserve ELF provenance and partial coverage Read GNU build IDs only from bounded ELF note ranges and retain conflicting candidates. Preserve source versus owned storage failures and honor cancellation through parsing and final cleanup. Separate snapshot structure from string-pool coverage. Verify every Gallery ABI with digest-bound engine labels and URI counts, and document the supported snapshot-kind layout. --------- Co-authored-by: REA Contributor <contributor@rea.tools> Co-authored-by: morluto <76467478+morluto@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(go): inspect embedded binary build metadata (#1363)
* feat(go): inspect embedded binary build metadata * fix(go): preserve byte metadata and validate container mappings * fix(go): support moduleless legacy build metadata Recognize optional module string headers in declared zero-filled memory while rejecting ambiguous and unmapped pointers. Preserve the original module-pointer field as the zero-byte source anchor. Classify initial symlink-loop and overlong-path failures as invalid input, with CLI and MCP regressions. * fix(go): reject undersized PE optional headers * fix(native): stabilize ELF memory checks and clean up exec wrappers Use existing parent/group/run-token ownership for caller-selected Python launchers, which can exec through a shell or prlimit. Add cancellation regressions for the valid wrapper and wrong-parent/token cases. Replace the timing-dependent 30,000-section memory workload with a valid 32 MiB padded ELF under a 64 MiB address-space limit. Check the same image successfully through CLI and MCP before requiring a typed memory failure, preserving the production timeout and all error assertions. Validation: npm run check and check:fast passed; 61 focused tests passed including Go CLI/MCP and session snapshots. Real decoder probes with pinned packages passed on Python 3.12.3 and 3.12.14. The full local ELF verifier is blocked by this container's procps/process-ownership boundary; the exact pushed head requires GitHub's real-binary-layout lane. * test: repair Electron fixtures and stabilize catalog startup checks Declare Electron imports in option, preload override, and path-resolution fixtures after upstream began requiring proven API provenance. Retain all option and preload assertions and adjust exact source ranges for the added import line. Use the existing bounded acceptance timeout for the cold catalog lifecycle test instead of a separate 15-second ceiling. This retains the coverage allowance and all catalog, error, and cleanup assertions without retries. Validation: npm run check, final check:fast, formatting and diff checks passed. Source path regression and Go boundary/MCP/service checks passed. All 20 Go CLI cases and both supported-host runtime cases passed on rerun; two macOS-only cases skipped on Linux. A prior contended local run timed out once in a Go CLI diagnostic; that case passed on rerun. Electron process-boundary verification is blocked locally by procps namespace inspection and requires fresh CI. * test(mcp): isolate nested schema references between tool contracts Clear Ajv's non-meta schema registry after each root, including compilation failures. Disabling root registration alone leaves nested IDs available to later tools and can let a dangling reference pass the catalog gate. Add regressions for leakage after successful and failed compilation while retaining shared meta-schema validators. The regression failed before the fix; all 11 schema cases and full npm run check pass. Reviewed independently. * test(ci): align Go effects and source-map verification contracts Audit the Go inspector wording as static metadata inspection. Assert retained source declaration indexes in BOM reconstruction and the compiler-derived nested-map oracle. Keep a 45,000-map admission control below the 32 MiB output budget and the 50,000-map overflow case above it with the expanded representation. Validation: reproduced all four failing assertions, then passed 120 focused tests and the final admission suite. npm run check and real Chrome 154 / esbuild 0.25.10 source-map verification passed, including all four nested-map scenarios and verified process lineage. --------- Co-authored-by: morluto <76467478+morluto@users.noreply.github.com> |

feat(harmony): project HarmonyOS package inventory evidence (#1447)
* feat(harmony): project HarmonyOS package inventory evidence First HarmonyOS increment from #1431: HAP, HSP, and App Pack roots are classified through the hardened ZIP reader and projected into an execution-free application graph with packaging-model hints, exact component paths and hashes, App Pack children by path, runtime-family hints, and path-based N-API bridge hypotheses. HarmonyOS .har stays unclassified by suffix because .har also names HTTP Archive JSON. Adds the project_harmony_application_graph tool (CLI and MCP), synthetic composition coverage, a pinned real-package verify lane, and docs. * refactor(domain): share application graph projection scaffolding The HarmonyOS projection mirrors the Android and Apple projections by design, which pushed jscpd duplication over its 2.5 percent budget. Extract the identical pieces (inventory input schema, projected component schema and occurrence flattening, bridge candidate schema factory, coverage assembly, comparator, canonical digest) into domain/mobileApplicationGraphProjection.ts and route all three projections plus the composition fixtures through it. Duplication drops from 2.52 to 2.49 percent with no behavior change: projection ids, classifications, and limitations are byte-identical. * fix(harmony): address review, stable app-pack roots, and rotated fixture - rebased onto main; the shared projection scaffolding now keeps main's nativeRuntimeConvention loop and the harmony runtime families adopt the same react-native/flutter/unity path conventions - the .app App Pack suffix is now a root-input rule only (verified ZIP magic in classifyRootFormat and BinaryTargetResolver); nested .app ZIP members inside other packages keep the generic zip classification, with a regression test, so existing inventories do not change - the signing limitation now states that an empty signing list does not mean unsigned because packaging-tool signatures live in the ZIP signing block, and the app-pack root rule is disclosed as suffix-based - repinned the real-package fixture to the current VHome 2.6.14-beta asset after the upstream deleted v5.0.111-beta and replaced the v2.6.14-beta asset within hours; the pin records both observed digests --------- Co-authored-by: morluto <76467478+morluto@users.noreply.github.com> |
